When we were aligned with Adventist thought, we rejected Christmas because it was "pagan". I realize we were a minority in rejecting this day. Since we understood the gospel and started attending a beautiful, rural evangelical church five years ago, this time has become increasingly precious to our family. This event is not a "birthday party" but a remembrance of when "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." My mother is dying of cancer, so it was wonderful having the whole family at our place yesterday (I am her primary care provider). Here is a poem I wrote for Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone! The dawn of winter, With its mix of cold and warm - Graced the skies with colour, Greeting us this chilly morn. May you find comfort this season, With family and with friends - Reach out, help the needy, As the Lord His blessing sends. May our hearts be always cheerful, What e're the cold may bring; Find joy in Christ our Saviour - And praises to Him sing. (Message edited by Leifl on December 25, 2016) |

Thanks, If there were a 'like' button I would click on it. PS I am also a 25/7 caregiver for my wife. Lately I have learned to practice medical procedures on her that I didn't know even existed a few months ago. Since we've been married for fifty years I love her so much and count it all joy. Phil |
