Just wanted to put out there that if anyone in the atlanta area would like to talk or meet up, I am available. Whether you are a former adventist, or just curious or full of questions, I would be open to a conversation. I am a former adventist, very grateful to be out of the church and into the true gospel since 2006. Find me on facebook or message me or post here! |

I know I was terrified to walk into a "Sunday" church, and if Carol from this forum had not invited me to go with her to visit her church, it would have been a huge obstacle for me! I would also love to hear where the rest of you are from! Lori |

HI~Javagirl~ My oldest daughter I named Lori! I still think it is a lovely name! I "Hail" from Orange County, California~ I attend Calvary Chapel East Anaheim~Anaheim, Ca. We are blessed with a pastor, Bob Kopney, who loves the "Word of GOD"! He truly teaches and loves us as a Shepherd! We study Scripture chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse! for instance, this Sunday morning we spent the hour in 2Cor. ch. 5:9~ Usually we cover more verses at one time, but this morning we camped there! The women's ministry is also vibrant! Pastor Bob's wife, Becky co-ordinates this~ I also have gained so much being a part of the Women's Thursday morning Bible Study! I pray you have found a "church home"~ ~mj~ |

Hi Javagirl, I ago to a Calvary Chapel here where I live. The senior minister preaches through a book, starting with chapter 1, verse 1, like mj's minister. Love it! I also go to the women's Thursday AM Bible study. MJ, I think you go to the same church my cousin and her husband attend. When I followed God out of adventism I thought I was the only sda who had left the church. I know the discomfort of attending a "Sunday" church. But I knew there was a verse in the NT that said not to neglect gathering together, so I went. God was with me and even told me which church to attend. I went there for 6 years. When I saw I needed spiritual growth, God took me to a Calvary Chapel. I met 2 former sdas in the first church and at Calvary Chapel I met a visitor who is a former sda. As far as I know I am the only former sda in Clark County. If there are others, God knows who and where they are. Diana (Message edited by Flyinglady on January 05, 2015) |

Diana~ It is so worth it to overcome the Fear and discomfort of attending a "Sunday" church! Actually, the "First" Sunday church I stepped foot in, was Harvest Christian Fellowship, (Senior Pastor, Greg Laurie) in Riverside, Ca. I was living in Corona and teaching at an adventist school! this was in the mid-90's. My daughter Lori was in the process of leaving adventism and this is where she chose to worship and take her young children, even though she lived with her husband in Redlands, where he was "Chair" of one of the departments at Loma Linda Medical Center. It was here(Harvest) I literally wept my first tears in a church~the Holy Spirit was moving in my heart and hers in a mighty way! I was a fourth generation adventist and of course she a fifth~ I Praise our Gracious and Merciful Father in heaven that my daughter and I soon after stopped going to the adventist church altogether. Not long after this, my other daughter left the adventist church, and other members of our family! We didnot, however, get swallowed up into the vast crevice of "nothingness"! GOD in His Grace held our hands through it all~ we found a place to worship and to learn from GOD's Word! We are all still learning and growing in the LORD! Circustances at this time, are such that my daughter and I sit with each other in church every Sunday and enjoy Thursday morning Bible Study toghter! She sings with the Women's worship team; it is so wonderful to see how GOD has blessed our family. My Great Grandson goes to Sunday School, and was baptized into CHRIST this summer in the Pacific Ocean! In fact, all of us who have come out, have been baptized into CHRIST, in the ocean!! This was just something we wanted to do. A New "Beginning", if you will. It is completely different when you are baptized into CHRIST instead of a "church"! My Grandchildren and my Great-Grands are being raised in the LOVE of the LORD ~not the Fear of losing their salvation, if they do not "keep sabbath"~ ~mj~ |

mj, Praise God for you and your family. I am so glad you worship together now. It is sooo good not to fear losing one's salvation if the sabbath is not kept. Hallelujah and Praise our Awesome God. Diana |

I went through Atlanta once on the Amtrak. It's a beautiful area. If I ever make it that far again I'll look you up. BTW, I will extend the same offer to anyone who comes out to The Big Island. Even if you are on vacation I could be your tour guide. I know the areas the tour bussus won't take you to. It's good to be in with a Christ centered group. |

Flyinglady: My wife and I will be in Sin City on the 19th. Flying in on the 18th at 10:10 PM and will need a place to stay. Any recommendations? Because of our strict upbringing as traditional SDAs, we won't be gambling or a thing like that. The flight was cheaper than to LA. |

You will be flying in on Jan. 18, 2015. Any place near the Strip is expensive. Go on line and look at the various hotels and how much they cost. I will put my phone number in the members section so you can call me when you are ready. Diana |

Wow, I used to live in Manassas and Alexandria, VA. I have many friends in NoVA. If I ever get back there and I probably will, when my son retires, I want to meet you Mainexile. My son wants to retire to NoVA or MD when he retires, so I will probably be going back there. He was raised in NoVA. |

Hi Everyone, I'm in Montana...about an hour from Missoula. We're kind of out of the way for most people, but if anyone is in the Missoula area, even Coeur d'alene or Spokane, (we go through these areas quite often to visit our daughter in WW) I always enjoy meeting former SDA's. We are in a club that most people can't relate to, so it's nice to connect. |

Hi Diana, No, I don't. I've seen him on FB on the EG White -False Prophet site. Was he on FAF a few years ago? His name seemed familiar when I saw him on the FB page about EGW. |
