Of course the BEST book is the Bible, but I'd like to recommend a book that would be good for those of us who've come out of a legalistic religion. It's called "Eternal Security" by Charles Stanley.

Asurprise~

This is the MOST wonderful book, out there!

I credit Charles Stanley and his ministry with playing a major role
in my becoming a "born again" Christian!

Many years ago I read 'Eternal Security' and underlined so many pages~

I read the book over and over~ I even gave one to
my adventist Mother~
I do believe at the end of her life she, too, accepted CHRIST as her SAVIOR~
After an 80 year lifetime as an 'historic' adventist!

I am so thankful this book was put in my hands.

The book is available in Christian bookstores and on Amazon.

Praying someone who reads this 'post' will be brave enough to
read the book~ It will change your life~Eternally!

I started listening to Charles Stanley after God took me out of adventism. I really like him. I will watch him on TV when I can.

Stanley is a good ole southern Baptist boy so no wonder he understands eternal security. Two times he's been Pres of the Souther Baptist Convention. He has an easy pace and kind way.

SermonAudio is a good place to find thousands of great messages and preachers. Just input 'grace' to find many.

IMO, John MacArthur is the best at this. There are two websites that have different materials - gty.org and gracechurch.org and input "The Doctrines of Grace". There are 10 long sermons (1 hr+) each, that he details out.

To fully understand eternal security in depth I believe that you have to combine it with sovereign election and that's what MacArthur does so well.

Charles,

I would have never understood grace, except it had been of the "Calvinist" or "Reformed" type. Gosh, I grew up an Arminian and hadn't the foggiest idea of how to obtain God's favour.

Several years ago, a careful reading of Romans set me straight on the true teaching of grace once for all.

If I am dependent on the correct, persistent, and unfailing exercise of my "free will" to enter the kingdom of God, then I'll certainly be lost.

But if Jesus seeks out His own, and does not cast away those who the Father has granted to Him, but pledges by the infinite value of His blood shed on the cross to keep them to the end, then my confidence in the saving ability of God is sure.

"Amazing Grace" was written by a staunch Calvinist. It doubt it could have been otherwise.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Leifi~

"But if Jesus seeks out His own, and does not cast away those who the Father has granted Him, but pledges by the infinite value of His blood shed on the cross to keep them to the end, then my confidence in the saving ability of God is sure."

I really like the way you explained this "Truth"!

Many, many years ago (when I was still an adventist) I was in a
'Home Bible Fellowship' group that met once a week. One 'Season' we
studied the book of Romans, complete with a 'study guide', that
was not an adventist publication! This raised many questions within the group, but...still, the others in the group
managed to interject the "adventist spin" into the material and of course this distorted everything !

However, even in my confusion, the Holy Spirit began to work in me to
search for the "Truth" from Scripture!
I am "Eternally" grateful that I know for a Certainty I am eternally Saved!

It was Romans 5 here. We were informally studying it and the plain words which were written there were being denied by the older and more "learned". That raised red flags for me, and questioning and searching started a journey that ended up in a complete turn around for myself and my family.
