Vanity can take on many forms. Whatever it may be it must be surrendered if there is to be real peace in your life. For that you need the Savior Jesus Christ. For those who know about my daily personal life are aware that both my dog and my wife have been very sick. Even though Hooch our dog is very old I have managed to figure out by changing his diet what was happening and he is much better. He is primarily Jan's dog. Jan has been hospitalized for over six weeks now but she has recovered and I expect her to be able to return home this week. These are among the things that matter to me. I tend to find joy in whatever day it is even when hard things fill up my life because there is peace knowing who my Savior is. King Solomon said all is vanity meaning the things of this life will be gone when we descend into the grave. Only in Jesus are there things that are not vanity. Fearless Phil | ||

I'm not sure I made it clear why I am talking about vanity and the things happening around me. I have been reading Solomon's thoughts on all of life being nothing more than vanity because all that we have or do will be gone when we die. Then it dawned on me that this is why a Christian must surrender all things to Christ....all things. When I can move on from Rom. 7:20 onto the next chapter, and do as the Apostle Paul, when he said "I can do all thing in Jesus Christ who empowers me" then nothing I have or do, is a vanity. We can take things of eternal value to the grave because they are Christ centered...all about him and not us. If King Solomon did not personally know of the coming Messiah then he was a very troubled person. He was a person filled with wisdom but did he make it personal?
