You all know about the two different judgements, don't you? The one for believers for "rewards" - taken from the Greek word "bema" and the one for the lost - called the "great white throne" judgement. We weren't taught about that as Adventists. Here's a verse about the judgement for believers - obviously the saved since it says: "we must all appear..." "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil." 2nd Corinthians 5:10. The Apostle Paul often, in his letters to the churches, urged the believers to strive for rewards. Anyway, I wanted to mention that in case anyone is mistaking those exhortations as striving for salvation instead! Here's a good article about this: http://www.arewelivinginthelastdays.com/article/bema/bema.htm |

Asurprise~ I am glad you have brought up this important subject! When you understand what the 'Bema Seat' is, it helps you clarify 'Eternal Security'! "OSAS"~ ~mj~ |

Understanding the Bema Seat helped me immensely as I was transitioning. 1 Cor. 3:7-10 is the "rewards" passage; it is NOT talking about eternal life or death! It is talking about believers, some of whom receive rewards for their works, others of whom have their works burned up even though they themselves are saved " as one passing through the flames". Also, it is my understanding, that the "rewards" are only for the "works" that the LORD Himself, planned for us to do for Him! They are generated by Him and for Him~ Our part is to be obedient when He calls us to a particular task He wants us to do! ~mj~ |

Adventists interpret that verse to mean that they HAVE to do works in order to be saved. They totally miss that the verse says that "we are HIS [God's] workmanship!" |
