I ordered something from a catalog a few months ago and recently got an offer from them in the mail. It says I have a FREE GIFT if I buy something from them! That makes me wonder if they're Adventist, because the Bible says that salvation is a "FREE GIFT," but SDAs say that's only if you make sure you keep repenting and overcoming sin. They say that even though believers back in the apostles day were told that they "HAD BEEN SAVED," that Adventists can't know that! |

Well, Asurprise, you are so funny! Not sure what catalog you were reading, but if you HAVE to buy something to get your free gift, then it's not really free. This idea comes from EGW. She said that the believer can't know they are saved. EGW — NO: "Those who accept the Saviour, however sincere their conversion, should never be taught to say or feel that they are saved. Those who accept Christ, and in their first confidence say, I am saved, are in danger of trusting to themselves." (Christ's Object Lessons, p. 155). BIBLE — YES: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24). "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:13). NOTE: The reason the apostle John wrote his letter was to assure the believers that they had eternal life.
