Hello All, I am guessing this has been discussed before, but how do you combat the argument that this is referring to ceremonial law? Eph 2:15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, [that is], the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man [from] the two, [thus] making peace, |

Scripture never separates the law into parts. The law is a unit. The ceremonial and civil and moral laws are ALL part of The Law. In fact, the entire Torah is The Law. There is never a division of the law. The article "The Unity of the Law: What Was Nailed to the Cross?" by McGregor Wright in this past issue of Proclamation is amazing and explains this subject exceptionally well: http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/Proclamation2005_JulAug.pdf Colleen |

One thing to ask a questioning SDA is; what divided Jews and Gentiles? It was the 10 commandments. Let me explain... 1. The law was never given to the Gentiles - Romans 2:14 2. The law is the covenant given to Israel - Deuteronomy 4:13 and Deuteronomy 5:2-3. 3. The old covenant became obsolete - Hebrews 8:13. 4. Jesus brought in a whole new covenant when He died - Hebrews 9:15-17. 5. The word "testament" means "covenant." Adventists need to read the New Testament to see what the New Covenant is all about. In ancient Israel's time, Gentiles would join with Israel from time to time, but to do so they had to keep that covenant. Now the "wall of separation," that old covenant between Israel and God [as Deuteronomy 4:13 said to Israel back in Moses' time; "he declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments, and he wrote them on two tablets of stone"] has been abolished. Now there's no distinction between Jew and Gentile - as Galatians 3:28 says; "there is neither Jew nor Greek" because that wall of separation ended at Jesus' death. Now the "ministry of death, carved in letters on stone" as it says in 2nd Corinthians 3:7 is at an end. |

There is another simply question I would add, Even if there was a ceremonial and a moral law (not that I concur) how could a ceremonial law be "against us"? |

Huh! That's a good question; it's amazing how completely the deception morphed the words and kept us (well, me, anyway...) from seeing how pointless the claims were. Indeed, what DID they mean that the "ceremonial law" was "against us"? I always interpreted that to mean the messiness of observing them...or something... Colleen |
