A SDA friend of mine posted a comment on Facebook regarding a youtube video the supposedly has a bishop declaring the Roman Catholic Church's error in transferring Sabbath sacredness to Sunday. The 4 minute video can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/CrB21mc2fmI I would also like to know if there are resources that can confirm this video is legitimate. As you can see, there is almost no context that would indicate the circumstances where this took place. Also, somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to remember that this is not a new development but something that has been out in the open for some time. The comment my friend made was, "Good reminder that the Catholic Church changed the Christian day of worship from Saturday to Sunday." I was very tempted to respond to this comment but held my tongue with the hope that some of you might have more graceful answers to counter this error. Depending on the "wildfire" effect of the video I would like to have a response that addresses the issue Biblically. Thanks for your help. | ||

This appears to have been a Carter Report event. See comments below the video on youtube, also look at other carter report presentations, stage matches and the chap taking podium after this appears the same as the man taking podium after the bogus bishop | ||

What is your evidence that this is a dressed-up SDA? I'd like to fight some misconceptions as this is being sent around some local circles as a legitimate RCC confession. | ||

I'm sure that the Roman Catholic church would love to claim that they changed the Sabbath to Sunday! But the truth is that Jesus FULFILLED the day and He's the Sabbath now!  (Colossians 2:16-17) The RCC is being very SDA in commanding people to observe a day. (The more time that passes since God rescued me from that cult, the more I see that the cults are basically the same - requiring works to a greater or a lesser extent for salvation.) | ||

This was posted in another group, and one of the members dug around the internet till she found the whole deal and it was Carter speaking at a church service in Arcadia with someone play acting a RCC Bishop. No link given so can't share that. Was taped in March 2011. | ||

With a little research I found that what Lucias said about the sash (fascia) dangling on the wrong side is true. This alone makes this video a fake. Also and important to remember is, it should be condemn as bogus and without merit is that there is no introduction to this speaker and there are no 'credits' or other references provided to establish that this person is speaking with authority. Just as a caution, we must hold ourselves to a high standard of integrity. We must always hold ourselves to a much higher moral standard than the producers of this video. While the video obviously and falsely supports SDA dogma we should not go beyond what we can prove to be true. It is good that some posting here have evidence that this as an SDA production but we should hold off condemning this as an outright SDA propaganda production without providing solid references to support our counter claims. Starting with doctrine always resort to Scripture without taking it out of context. In our exposure of such things as this video, document our claims so others seeking the truth of any issue can clearly arrive at the same conclusion without twisting facts into what we think to be truth. This was posted on facebook too. The original poster was told that it was deceptive and Jesuit like because it represented an 'ends justify the means' way of doing things and it also went against the clear instructions of Ellen White regarding drama in the church. | ||

Phil, I agree we need to avoid stooping to the same tactics. However, I think it would be reasonable to say something that clearly distinguished what one knew versus what one thought or surmised. Such as

Oh, man...this is the church that my brother & SIL attend. My parents financially support it. I drive by this place once a week & actually left a certain magazine at their door not too long ago...the one with a "false prophet" on the cover.... My parents have dozens of his DVDs....he evangelizes huge crowds in Russia & all over the world. He is quite the dramatic speaker. | ||

Aw, thats right out of 'Bible Readings For The Home' which is an SDA study book written with the complete guidance of SDA theologians (if you can call them theologians) I almost choke when I mention the word theologian with the word SDA attached to it, but this has been around for a long time (not the film, the words in the film). The book, 'Bible Readings For The Home' hard cover is out of print, and getting hard to get. The film (I believe) is an SDA propaganda film. Propaganda film is a powerful tool to keep the populace in check. |
