Hi everyone. I have read practically the whole forum and all the online issues of Proclamation. It has become part of my bedtime habit, alongside reading the Gospels, as I eagerly learn all I can about being Christian. Until 8 weeks ago I was an atheist-tending towards agnostic, I was raised by atheists and I felt I had no faith and could not tap into what others seemed to have, I felt lost and without purpose. It is a long story but the crux of it is I was given some literature to read by an SDA friend, out of respect for her and wanting to know what she believed I read it. After a while something clicked and I realized I had been against "religion" (which I mostly saw as hypocritical) not God and nobody had ever taught me the basics about having free will and being able to make a choice to follow the word (btw I am 53). Then quite literally I heard a voice say to me "I am here if you want me". I began by reading the New Testament, as it was coming up to Easter and I wanted to refresh my memory about the events leading up to the crucifixion which I had learned at primary school. Then I found some things didn't add up in what my SDA friend had given me and what I was reading in the New Testament. I asked God to guide me and I searched for SDA and at the top of the list was FORMER SDA. So here I am. I may well have rejected that call to follow Him if I went down the SDA path and found things didn't add up but reading all your expositions have helped me understand the saving grace of God and become more firm in my belief of Jesus as my saviour. You are saving more than SDAs God bless Carolyn |
