Since 9/11, I did a very thorough study of Islam and why we were attacked. And did a comparative study as to Catholicism or Islam being the false religion of the end time. Either way, they are bad and that you probably won't find the real Jesus in either of them is pretty certain, but I became alarmed that the Adventists did not even see the threat. I've been a Christian for years before attending the Adventist Church. Most of the places I had gone, I was always interested in Eschatology. I still am interested in the End Times. But I know that Jesus is the central theme of the Bible, the whole Bible is about God and His love for us in Christ. And I know that His sheep hear His voice, another they will not follow. I became disturbed that as our God created life that Adventist could have such a cavalier attitude towards abortion and even go so far as to vote for a candidate who is for killing children who survive an abortion. I hate abortion and I am sure God hates it too. How can we love what God Himself hates? But they had started working a method to get Muslims involved in the church so the whole thing that I saw was to tone down Christ and His precious blood and to get rid of the cross so it wouldn't offend Muslims. But the cross... how can we be ashamed of it. I couldn't understand the logic of not having it outside of the SDA church she it was all over the lighting fixtures. I guess they felt that it would allow more Muslims to feel comfortable coming to an SDA church. But they do not worship the same God as Christians and Jews. It was then I felt very creepy because if they think that they worship the same god as the Muslims do, that I wasn't worshipping Jesus by staying there. I went on to do more research and found that their is a big effort of the SDA church to reach out to Muslims but never a sinners prayer. Never a sinners prayer either to bring people to Christ Jesus. But this is our mission as Christians, to be able to explain the Gospel to everyone we meet and to lead them to the same saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior as we have. If you are ashamed of the cross an are ashamed to invite people to Jesus, how can you turn and think you have a single thing to help Muslims? Yes, there is a false peace but it isn't the peace of the Lord. What many people who are into eastern religion or the occult need is deliverance. But how can you take the sword out of someone's heart denying the basic tenets of the faith so you don't offend them? The Bible clearly states that Jesus will be a Rock of Offense and a Block of Stumbling but to those of us who are being saved, He is the rock of our salvation and there is abundant life and fellowship with God in His name. I pray for Adventists because I don't know if they have the same kind of faith in their hearts as how I learned the Gospel. |

Welcome to the forum, Sally! I agree with your post. It seems like Adventists are thinking they can "save" a Muslim by having no-pork potlucks and sitting around dreamily talking about Ellen White! But if they don't have Jesus, they have nothing! Religions getting together in some sort of feel-good unity is no better than an athiest offering a piece of candy to a dying patient! |

Sally, It's because Of pork. Non Christians who don't eat pork area more right than Christians who do eat pork or even if individuals they don't eat pork they don't view pork eating with eternal damnation. Welcome. I'm looking forward to learning from you. |

This is really fascinating, Sally. When my SDA friends tried to convince me that Sabbath keeping was the only true way to be faithful to God, they explained that it was going to be Catholics and other Sunday worshiping faiths who would persecute the Sabbath keepers before the end times. I couldn't understand why they didn't see that a greater threat comes from conflict with non Judeo-Christian political/religious movements. But of course they are stuck with the false prophesies of a woman who lived well before the middle east conflicts and powerful rise of fundamentalist Muslim politics on the world stage. I searched for some information about Muslim "sabbath keeping" and found this interesting article. http://www.jews-for-allah.org/Jews-and-Muslims-Agree/jewishsabbath-islamsabbath.htm I am only a beginner and trying to catch up on years of ignorance about theology but it strikes me that Friday noon prayers for Muslims are more compatible with people who begin Saturday sabbath preparations on Friday afternoon. This is a kind of way out idea but could a move to "convert" Muslims actually be more of a move to align with ideas which point to Jesus as a prophet than son of God? Thereby strengthening the highly treasured Old Testament remnants? Then there is the pork thing... |

Welcome Sally. I like your post. I read some of the Qran and all I found is violence against non muslims. SDA's just do not understand the teachings and it seems they really do not want to or they think they can change them. Gail |

Schasc, Wow!!!! There seems to be a concerted effort on the part of the SDA church to cozy up to Islam. Dwight Nelson preached a sermon a couple of years ago, saying that the God of Islam is the same God as the God of the Jews and Christians. What????? If that God doesn't include Jesus as part of the God-head, it most certainly is not the same God. I was shocked when I heard this sermon on the Hope Channel. Then later, in the Review, was an article about how much Adventists had in common with Muslims. This can be seen at www.adventistworld.org/article/708/resources/english/issue-2020-1002/adventist-and-muslims-five-convictions. If not, just google Seventh-day Adventists and Muslims and it should come up. It is absolutely shocking (not really) how SDA's will always minimize Jesus and the Gospel, and uplift their lifestyle. After spending 27 years in the SDA church...I had finally had enough of not hearing much about Jesus...except that He kept the Sabbath, and hearing about Adventism and how they have the truth (actually, no you don't), diet, EGW, the terrible proof-texting, and the condemnation of Christians. I've been out of it for about 10 years and have learned so much, and love studying God's word for what it says, without a false prophet's foolishness!!!! Looking back at Adventism now it feels dark, oppressive and empty of the Good News of Jesus Christ. I really fear for the SDA church... |

P.S. The scary and sad part is, that Adventism and Islam do have a lot in common...starting with a false prophet/prophetess. Re-reading that article gives me the shivers! I would be interested in your thoughts on it, Schasc or anyone else. Carol |
