This article in the current issue of Adventist World is so revealing about how the SDA church actually views Ellen White. http://www.adventistworld.org/issue.php?issue=2013-1003&page=14 "If modern Christianity were a homogeneous religious body, solidly grounded on the authority of God’s Word, there would be no need for a manifestation of the prophetic gift in these last days. But in a world in which Christianity is more divided about the understanding of the Bible than ever before,3 such a gift is needed to scrub clean the misinterpretations of Scripture caused by the vast amount of antibiblical assumptions derived from human traditions, human reason, personal experience, and modern culture. So instead of replacing the Bible, the modern gift of prophecy helps readers to allow the Bible to interpret itself without being distorted by human biases." "Even those who spend time with the Bible are tempted to distort its true meaning. As already mentioned, God gave us in Ellen White a modern prophet to help free us from the human traditions that tend to distort our understanding of God’s Word. Her writings are 'a divine prophetic filter that helps us to remove all the human rubble that tradition has artificially imposed on the Bible, so that the divine message of the Scriptures can flow pure and clean into our hearts.'" In that last statement, the author admits that Adventists filter scripture through Ellen White, and that the word flows pure and clean into our hearts because of that filter. There are no words to describe how horrifying this article is. |

It's a denial of the Holy Spirit who gives us understanding - 1 Cor 2:14, & is our Teacher who teaches us the truth, not lies - 1 John 2:27, & keeps us in Christ Jesus. So egw replaces God the Holy Spirit. Yes, horrifying. |

It is disrespectful to the the many inspired writers of the Christian Scriptures - and to their Ultimate Author who inspired them and put it all together over thousands of years - to say that the Bible required one person writing 30 times its volume over a few years to clarify it. It is yet another example of Ellen White usurping the role of the Holy Spirit in Adventism. |

I believe they are becoming more bold and clear about their true beliefs lately. It's a good thing; it supports our statements about the religion and reveals who they really are. But it's horrifying, and I believe the truly horrific piece in it is realizing that I was in that deceptive organization and was proud of it! Adventism is dark. It is not "almost right" with a few heterodox beliefs. Think about it: Satan is the scapegoat. Adventism is rooted in complete darkness and is evil. Colleen |

Yeah, so now the higher ups in the cult are actually admitting they follow EGW first And formost. That will just encourage their devotees to read The Clear Word, The Great Controversy, And all their other satanist rubbish and try to convince the inspecting that they actually follow Gods word. They convince their devotees truth is lie and their lies area truth. |

With Ted Wilson now at the helm, historic Adventism is being reinforced from the top. In every speech I've seen him give, he has worked in EGW and quotes her numerous times. He also specifically mentions the unique SDA beliefs, calling them by name and labeling them "precious truths," even when that wasn't the point of his talk. At first I was upset, but now, like you Colleen, I'm glad to see that. Perhaps it'll awaken more current Adventists to question what he's saying and it will give more evidence to other Christians that we "formers" aren't lying about what the SDA church currently teaches. While I'm still horrified I was stuck in that deception for so long, I'm more grateful every day that the power of God ripped the veil from my eyes and pulled me out. |
