I was looking around online to see what kind of ministries exist for Former JW's and Former Mormons. I found several testimonial video's for former JW's but these are the two I watched. Their experience is SO SIMILAR to ours!!! I thought I'd share them with you. They are only about 5 or so minutes each. http://youtu.be/78jWhaq1Ru8 http://youtu.be/qtoz7eqNFjk I also found this Q & A with a former Mormon bishop who is now Christian. It looks like an FAF weekend type of deal. He had an interesting answer to a questions at about 5:30 up till 11:50. The gentleman asks about how to respond to Mormons who say that they feel the Holy Spirit when they are praying etc. Here is that link: http://youtu.be/3jbJK-FFfkQ I am beside myself with how similar all this stuff is!! I have a dream that one day we will have a conference for former SDA's, Former JW's and Former Mormons to come together and rejoice in their new freedom. Its focus could be, "The Kingdom of the Beloved Son: Rescued from the Kingdom of the Cults." |

Thanks, free2dance, for these links. I am impressed more & more how similar their art is, too. The art in JW literature looks like the art in many current SDA brochures, magazines & SS covers, etc. |

I have met former JWs and Mormons in CR. In talking with each other we have both said how similar our experiences are. Thank you awesome God for taking each of us out of a cult. Diana |

Remember Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz"? This is what an adventist is like, when they pull back the curtain of ellen g. white's 'prophecies, visions, and writings' ~ They realize the 'Wizard' is a fraud and a charlatan, and there is no turning back! I think this is also what it is like for all the other members in 'cults'~ ~mj~ |

As I helped in my son's kindergarten class today I had to hold back tears while I prayed for the little boy who is a JW and the little girl who is a Mormon. I know even more now after seeing those links what they are growing up in and it breaks my heart!! I am praying that the Lord will bring them out while they are young! |

I love it when the former Mormon bishop talks about how he deals with current Mormon's saying, "We don't teach that anymore, that was in the past." (sound familiar?!) Also, I like his statement about how the Holy Spirit works in the lives of Mormon's. He says that the Holy Spirit is not limited by what organization we are affiliated with. He said God knows and cares for His people no matter where they are. He said they do not have the fullness of the Spirit (which to me means they are convicted by the Spirit, but not indwelt by the Spirit). I love that he says that the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of Mormon's --get this-- to prepare them to meet the former Mormon's who understand their context and who will bring them the true gospel! I love that! He also talked about the fact that just because Mormon's use the word "Lord" or attribute feelings of confirmation of Mormonism to the Lord doesn't mean they are interacting with the Lord. He said that any spirit that confirms Mormonism is from Satan. |

Satan can certainly counterfeit feelings! And of course a person isn't sealed or filled with the Holy Spirit while they are lost... Ephesians 1:13-14 says a person is sealed with the Holy Spirit when they trust in Jesus - and anyone who trusts partly in their own works aren't trusting in Jesus. Romans 8:9 says that anyone who doesn't have the Holy Spirit doesn't belong to God, so the lost aren't God's children. |

In making their "translation," JWs have taken out or changed many references to Jesus being God. But here's one they missed! John 12:41 is talking about Jesus and mentions that Isaiah saw His glory. When you have the JW read that (starting a few verses earlier, perhaps with verse 35 to show them that it's really talking about Jesus,) have them turn to Isaiah 6:1 in their ""Bible" and read: "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple." Isaiah 6:1 - only their "version" says: "I saw Jehovah sitting on a throne, high and lifted up..." (I can't locate my own copy of their "bible" at the moment, so I don't know if I have the exact wording right.) |

Free2dance, Those are great links you provided. I had seen the first one before, it is from a film entitled, something like, Jehovah's Witnesses, a non-prophet organisation. Joan Cetnar is awesome. Apparently she was an heiress who lost a great inheritance by leaving the JWs and being disinherited by the family, sorry I can't remember the details. I love these testimonies. I had not seen the ex-Mormon one, but it is brilliant! There are some good testimonies on the "Tower to Truth" website, it's a radio programme, out of Philadelphia, but you can find it by searching the web. They are mainly ex-LDS or ex-JW, but it deals with other false teachings too. I like it! Adrian |

Asurprise, I was given an (English) NWT by a (Hungarian) JW acquaintance, so why refuse? Useful at least for research purposes :-) So I'll quote the sections for you: John 12:35-41 (NWT) - Jesus therefore said to them: "The light will be among you a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness does not overpower you, and he that walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, exercise faith in the light, in order to become sons of light." Jesus spoke these things and went off and hid from them. But although he had performed so many signs before them, they were not putting faith in him, so that the word of Isaiah the prophet was fulfilled which he said: "Jehovah, who has put faith in the thing heard by us? And as for the arm of Jehovah, to whom has it been revealed?" The reason why they were not able to believe is that again Isaiah said: "He has blinded their eyes and he has made their hearts hard, that they should not see with their eyes and get the thought with their hearts and turn around and I should heal them." Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory, and he spoke about him. And the Isaiah quotation: Isaiah 6:1-5 (NWT) - In the year that king Uzziah died I, however, got to see Jehovah, sitting on a throne lofty and lifted up, and his skirts were filling the temple. Seraphs were standing above him. Each one had six wings. With two he kept his face covered, and with two he kept his feet covered, and with two he would fly about. And this one called to that one and said: "Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah of armies. The fulness of all the earth is his glory." And the pivots of the thresholds began to quiver at the voice of the one calling, and the house itself gradually filled with smoke. And I proceeded to say: "Woe to me! For I am as good as brought to silence, because a man unclean in lips I am, and in among a people unclean in lips I am dwelling, for my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of armies, himself!" The words rendered Jehovah are, in the NT passage, the two words are kürios - the name Jehovah does not occur in the NT, it is always rendered in quotations from the OT as kürios - Lord. But that does not stop JWs putting it in anyway. In the Isaiah passage, the first Jehovah is adonai, which means Lord, and the next two are YHWH, which is, of course, the tetragammaton, the divine name. Having said that, the passage in John definitely confirms that Isaiah saw the glory of Jesus, as "interpreted" by the NIV, but the NWT, as you say, also "forgot" to get rid of the idea :-) God bless, Adrian |

I can remember, years ago as a devout SDA, checking books out of our church library on the cults of JW & Mormonism! I knew they were cults, but I "knew" I was fortunate enough to have been born in "the only true church"! |

James Walker, a former Mormon and director of Watchman Fellowship (a counter-cult ministry) is awesome at what he does. You should check out this interview he did. http://www.hopefortheheart.org/2012/06/hope-broadcast-mormonism/ and then just google him 'cause he's awesome! |
