I just wanted to share that my husband and I finally met with the pastor of the church we've been attending for 6 months. Meeting with him was just another step toward emotionally moving away from Adventism and committing somewhere else, which was scary for me. Although we renounced the doctrines of Adventism one year ago (this month), it is the emotional journey that has been hard. God truly led us to the church where we are now. For the very first time in my life I think I have a pastor that is trustworthy and can be a spiritual mentor. God knew this would be a healing place for me and I praise Him for leading us to a church that would provide that. Interestingly, the church is composed of about 65% of people who have "come out" of other very legalistic and/or spiritually abusive churches, so there is a sense of safety there. I was able to be very honest with the pastor about myself and shared some things about Adventism with him that he didn't know. He has basically not had any interaction with Adventism for about 37 years. When we started talking about Adventism, the first thing he said was, "They are basically the Galatian Christians," meaning... they are the Galatians that Paul was writing to! Grace plus works. It seems as though I'm rambling now, but really what I wanted to say was that I'm so grateful that God placed me in a church with a leader who is a genuine, converted, Christ-follower. God knew I needed that! |

Dear Lyrical~ May 'Our' "FATHER" in heaven be praised for HIS magnificent care for you, HIS dearest daughter! This makes me so HAPPY ! (^_^) ~ I, too, am a member of a church, where the 'Word' of GOD, is proclaimed, by a pastor who is, "a genuine, converted, Christ-follower..." 'Our' FATHER, in heaven, also knew what I needed! One of my adult daughters, also attends this church with me, we sit together every Sunday morning, and often sing that wonderful 'worship' song, 'In CHRIST Alone'!!! with tears of JOY !!! In CHRIST~ ~*~mj~*~ |

I,too, am a member of a local church that teaches and preaches the Word of God. The church I go to is considered a non-denominational church, so everyone that comes there is truly accepted as a believer. Our pastor is a real gem and I truly love him. And by the way MJ, I love that song, "In Christ Alone" too. |

Just a little 'add-on' to my above post~ My six-year old, Great Grandson, tells me that this worship song is his "Favorite"~ My daughter says that he always requests it when they are in the car together~ he even raises his little hands, to JESUS, as he sings along with the music! Oh, what Grace, that he will only know the "Power of 'CHRIST Alone'!" I tried to give a link to this song~did not work! It is on YouTube! Check it out! ~mj~ (Message edited by mjcmcook on January 15, 2013) |

I was asked to sing at a fundraiser in November and chose to sing "In Christ Alone." Very emotional... Then, a few weeks ago, just before Christmas, I had the opportunity to meet the Gettys (who wrote the song) and sing in the choir for their big Christmas concert. We sang that song that night. Amazing, to say the least, and such an honor to be a part of that evening. To hear a concert hall filled with thousands of people lifting their voices together in praise gave me chills. (They were inspired in writing that song!) Every time I feel a part of the body of Christ, I'm still amazed. I spent all of my life isolated from Christians. "In Christ Alone" holds a special place in my heart! And, you're right... no one can sing/feel the impact of it like a former!! |

My 100% favorite song is, "I Was There For Your Borning Cry ". The song is sooooo beautiful. Especially sung by the St. Olaf Choir. You can watch it and listen to it on YouTube. |

I am glad we aren't under the Law anymore. We don't need it. It is gone because it was against us. |
