Pnoga; the Bible answers your question about obtaining faith. Romans 10:17 says: "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." So read or listen to God's words in the Bible. |

Redeembyhim; the difference between a saved person and an unsaved one is the presence of the Holy Spirit inside the saved one. He's the One Who changes a life. |

Asurprise, thanks I have tons of bibles in varying translations. I have several audio. I have learned koine greek and read the septuagint and NT in greek. I have put the bible down for almost a year now, think it was a good choice. Maybe God will pop me upside the head for doing such, maybe he won't, don't know.LOL anyway thanks so much for the offer, I appreciate your kindness. Paul |

And Hi Colleen, it's nice to be back. I have been reading for a few months since coming back but have not participated in any posts. Guess I am a FAF post stalker lol. I appreciate the concerns and the kindness on this forum is a major reason why I have returned, plus missing all the great stick it to the SDA doctrines posts. ;) |

Pnoga; the Bible won't do you any good in the book shelf. It says that if you read/listen to it, you'll obtain faith. So, it seems to me that you have the knowledge to believe... is the problem that you don't want to surrender to God? It's hard for us to relinquish control of our lives to another - even if the other is God... and hard to see that our desires are too small when we want ourselves to be in charge... You can trust Him... He has your best interests in mind and He knows the end from the beginning. I know, with myself; my mind is too small to think of God as Who He is. It's easy to think of Him as a perfectly good, BIG one of us! (I think SDAs think that way.) Instead of someone Who fills the whole universe! |

If at any point in time a person has turned to Jesus as their savior and has relied solely on him for salvation, then I believe it is a done deal. Don't listen to the temptation that allows you to get hung up on your faithlessness but instead rejoice that Jesus is faithful. You are totally off the hook and you owe God nothing. True freedom indeed!
quote:if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:13 ESV)
God's got it rigged! ;) (Message edited by nowhitehats on October 04, 2012) |

Dear Asurprise, do you have a bible you can spare that is The Common English Translation? There are NO bookstores out here any more big than a minimart. So, anything.like that has to be ordered. |

Punababe808; the CDs I have are the English Standard Version of the New Testament. It's MP3 format, but if you don't have an MP3 player, it plays on a regular DVD player too. Email me (with your address) if you would like one. I would be happy to send you one. |

Nah, but thank-you a lot. My son who is in jail is studying from The Common English Translation. Is the easiest to understand. I will order one from Christianbooks.com. Thanks a lot though. I wanted the same translation he's using so we can study together by mail. |
