Normally I immediately throw out the Adventist Review we were given a subscription to, without a glance. But the cover story on the 9/20/12 issue caught me eye. Here's the link to it: http://www.adventistreview.org/issue.php?issue=2012-1526&page=18 A few years ago (not long after leaving the SDA church), we read through a book presenting the various views of Hell and Edward Fudge was one of the authors. From everything I saw in the book or ever heard about him, it sounded like he arrived at his conclusions independently and his views agree with Adventism. Now there's a film out and I have a feeling there will be the same slant. Yet this article says Edward Fudge (who is a Church of Christ theologian) "devoured a set of Voice of Prophecy study guides at age 14." Later in life, he revisited the issue. To me, this is just another case of being deceived by the Adventists. The producers of this film (who are Adventists) are hoping it will be widely viewed and discussed by church groups and the intent is to present this "truth" to people who would never read a theologian's book on the topic or maybe not even a Bible. Thought you all may want to know in case it comes up at your church. |

I knew the author personally. I thought she was a snob. She came off as a nice person to most people who met her, because she held up that image. Yet she got in only with the "right" people. She was nice to everyone else when she had to do it. I remember her calling my family's house a "shack". It's just a small house built in 1991. It was kept up well. Yet it was a shack to her. Her house was huge and very nice. Her husband, a carpenter built it. Yeah, so full of herself. Her music ministry was something else. She went all over the world to sing. She did write some nice songs. Yet she always had to hit some super-high notes at the end of every song. She went far out of her range. The song would be nice until the very end when she would shriek some operatic notes so high. Some people tried to tell her to stop that, but she didn't listen. She and her husband met at a support group for recovering anorexics. For real. They were no longer anorexics, but were still VERY strict in their diets. Their two girls were stunted in growth. My sister was over their house and was surprised at the meager portions their girls were eating. Finally they went off to academy and they put on weight and grew some once they were out of the house. Now one daughter is doing a music ministry. I hope she doesn't do the high notes like her mother did. The other one is running around Europe and has been for at least five years. Enough of the gossip now. :P |

H-m-m...I know that the guy that wrote the script is the son of Donald Davenport, Sr. (of the Davenport scandal of the 80s). He has received many accolades from LSU for his achievements. Not saying he is responsible for what his dad & the SDA church did. |

So, is the author trying to fudge the truth? |

I wonder if Pat Arrabito had any relation to Jim Arrabito. Jim Arrabito did many films on conspiracy therories. He died in a plane crash in the 1980s and SDAs often thought he was killed on purpose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8HUVYDLV_Y |

Yep, Pat was Jim's wife. I married her niece. Small world, isn't it? |

Jim Arrabito seems like he was a cool guy. I do find his videos to be interesting. It's a small world, and an even smaller SDA world. |
