River, Nope... never crossed my mind. Something to think about, though. Each life is pre-ordained by God, so I'm sure there are many, many factors that go into an individual's life span. |

Welcome, Eternal Joy! Chris, thanks for your really excellent description of the contradictory beliefs that I also held as an Adventist. Talk about cognitive dissonance! That was it! Colleen |

Like the rest of you, I too, had difficulties when leaving the Adventists. And even when I had started going to a non-denominational church in a different part of the town I lived in I still had a hard time shaking off adventism in my life. I still had alot of memories in the place I where I was living. It was during that time period when I was part of the Seventh-day Adventist. And also had left the church. For me, I had to actually move away from that particular apartment where I was residing. Now I am living less than one mile from the non-denominational church which I now attend. And also I requested that I be re-baptized. I am so happy that I did. The group that the church where I attend, has a meeting on Friday nights that is called Celebrate Recovery. And it was (and still is)there where I worked through my issues on the Adventist Church. And I feel so relieved and so refreshed to know that this is part of my life that I can leave behind. Yes, I have learned many lessons from this experience which helps me to help others who are in their own dilemmas in cultic groups. Thank you Colleen and the rest of you for your many prayers and praises in helping me through this. |

Asurprise, in my case it vas VERY dramatic and spiritual. Something outside of my will, mind, intelect or whathever I am in control of, intervened to help in my decision to drop SDA doctrines. I never believed in the manifestation of the speaking in tongues, as any SDA and unfortunatelly many good theologians are. But in my case, it was the tip that turned the ballance toward Jesus. I never sought it, never wanted it as a proof of my salvation, it just hit me 3 times during my process of turning away from SDA. I won't get the details here, I don't want o make a case for it and don't want to change opinions over the issue. It doesn't bother me if you don't believe in it. This could be a topic on its own. All I know that after the episode, I felt a mountain lifted off my back, I got on my bike and went for a ride. All I could do is sing "Amazing Grace" and started cryin like Niagara Falls. I had to stop riding because I couldn't see anymore. I NEVER cryied like that ever, not at my dad's funeral or at my baby girl birth. -Adi |

I forgot to add de demonic side: while this was taking place I had a big IF always comming to haunt me. "What if I had to keep the Sabbath?" That is when great fears hit me. I couldn't eat well for almost 3 weeks or so. -Adi |

Adiusa; Wow! I've never spoken in tongues, but the Apostle Paul did! That's wonderful that the Lord rescued you! |
