I was told today that EGW was Joseph Smith's (as in the mormon prophet!!!) secretary? I also did some research this week and learned that much of her language was that of the occult and the freemasons. I learned that Joseph Smith was a freemason and that he too went stiff all over his body when he entered into a vision. I learned that he died in 1844, interesting date. I found this short chart comparing EGW's writings and vision experiences with Joseph Smith's. I am more and more convinced that in the spirit world there is a spirit of the cult. This cultic spirit drives all the cults and while they all think they are so unique, they are shockingly similar! Here is a link: http://www.biblebelievers.com/SDA/SDA4.html#4-c |

I don't know how she could have been his secretary - given that she needed secretaries herself and would have been only fourwhen Joseph Smith moved his church from New York to Ohio, and would have been seventeen when he died. It is interesting to notice the occult phenomena and similarities between White and Smith. I agree the parallels are amazing. Blessings, Mary |

Ya, Im with you on the secretary thing. My mother who was studying with the mormons over the last year told me this. I think she remembered that wrong. I find no proof. However, I did stumble across some other interesting stuff while I was looking for proof. Apparently EGW consulted her dead husband in a "vision" and took his advice as from God. Have you heard this? http://www.macgregorministries.org/seventh_day_adventists/sda_facts.html |

Yes. I remember reading it for myself as an SDA and thinking it was very strange. |

I read recently somewhere (on this forum ?) that EGW had a "dream" in which she spoke to her husband it wasnt a "vision" and apparently she was fully aware it was a dream and told it as such. I think she shoulda kept her mouth shut about it...LOL Francie (Message edited by skeeter on March 30, 2010) |

Plus, she took advice from this dead husband and followed it when she woke up. Diana L |
