Our church pastor of communications passed on to us a notice he had received. He's on to the ways of Adventists, of course, but when I read it, I admit I was pretty upset. Here's what it said:
quote:Would you please put the following notice in your church bulletin for Sundays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28. "Know Him Productions," a drama ministry of the Redlands Seventh-day Adventist Church, presents its 2010 Easter play, The Upper Room, on April 2 and 3 at 7:00 pm in our temporary location at Redlands Adventist Academy, 130 Tennessee Street, Redlands, CA. Be our guest as we look in on an upstairs room where secrets are revealed, prophecies fulfilled, betrayals identified and hearts changed. For more information call or visit www.knowhimproductions.com Thank you.
Im sure every church in the area got this...and notice they specifically ask for it to be run on "Sundays", and they give the four Sundays preceding the dates of production: a Friday and Saturday. It's so clear that they pursue Christians. They're not primarily about "converting" pagans and the unchurched; they go for Christians who can be deceived by masquerading as just "one of the gang" of local Christians. It's a bold-faced lie. They aren't part of the Christian community; they're "another gospel". Paul says about those who preach "another gospel—which is no gospel at all"—"Let them be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-9.) Colleen |

Up to their same tricks. That is a shame. I am so glad all the churches were invited to the FAF weekend 2 years ago to hear Dale. Maybe the pastors have taken the message to heart and will not advertise this in their bulletins. That is what I am praying. Diana L |

Well, maybe some of you who have a couple dollars and live in the area could send an add to the churches explaining what the SDA believe about Jesus and what he came to die for (to give us a second opportunity to keep the law.) His nature, etc. That way they get informed and also may not place the add in the bulletin. Just an idea. Hec |

"It was because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage." Galatians 2:4 |

Wow. That is bold--and what struck me is that they actually put their name (Seventh-day Adventist) in there this time. Jeremy |

You are so right, Cindy! The reality of the rage of these "principalities & powers" is something I wasn't really aware of as an SDA...I've been reading alot about some of the SDA ministers like Canright, Ballenger, Jones, who had to make a decision between following Scripture vs. EGW, and the horrible way she treated them, destroyed their reputations, called them agents of Satan, etc. Ballenger's daughter was still living (in Riverside, CA) in 1984 and in the book "White Out" there is documentation from an interview with her that the church left he and his family "without a cent of remuneration" after he was kicked out. He had given his whole life to the SDA church, suffered hardships doing so and was away from his family for long periods. When he chose the Bible (re the sanctuary doctrine), EGW told him he was under control of evil spirits. He is buried in Olivewood cemetary in Riverside and I really want to go visit his grave one of these days. It boggles my mind how a system can keep such control of people that there is a continual, to this day, choosing of this woman and her writings over the words of the Bible. Just because these forces are dark doesn't mean they are not powerful! Thank God that I now understand that our Almighty God is so much more powerful. I just love it, reading in the gospels how often Jesus went around showing His almighty power over them!! They are defeated in His Name! I just read the most interesting background to the idea of Satan being our 'accuser"--will post it another time, but it's really cool! |

I had such a feeling of heaviness as I read Mr. Canrights account. It read like his heart was so heavy, how it must have been. I have it on my harddrive somewhere. Need to review that as I hadn't read it in about a year. River |

Richard, I would like to have them if you have them all in one place and could mass e-mail them to me. I don't want to be an inconvenience though. River |

When I was an SDA, I thought that people like Canright were horrible because the SDA church said they were. I had no idea how Ellen White saw "spots on their robes" if they got too popular with the people, etc. etc. I noticed that the Redlands SDA church said "...Easter play..." in their announcement. When I was an Adventist, I had no trouble with the name "Easter" derived from a pagan "goddess" name. I enjoyed the colored eggs and chocolate bunny rabbits, though not the "Easter ham" enjoyed by non-Adventists!!! [a custom derived from the pagan "goddess" having supposedly ordered the killing of all boars, because a boar killed her husband]. I figured that as long as we were not WORSHIPING the false goddess or anything, that it was fine with God. Now I'm not so sure how honoring it is to Him. (Now this is how I feel. I'm NOT saying that others should necessarily follow my example. This is something between each Christian and God.) I mentioned this to the pastor of my church, telling him what an awesome testimony it would be to the world to call that day "Resurrection Sunday" instead of "Easter." It would tell the world what Christians are about and not send a mixed message. He refused to be swayed though, insisting on still calling it "Easter." (I guess this is one example of the pull that big giant pagan church - Roman Catholicism - has on Christianity.) |
