This is from an adventist publication titled "Responding to Conflict Biblically" Not sure why there are so many EGW quotes as it is supposed to support everything BIBLICALLY. What they do is provide a Bible quote or more often, give the reader their synoposis of the text and then provide chapter and verse so it can be looked up. Here is a little bit...word for word. Absolutely, John! The bread and the wine are not reminders of "struggle". They are reminders of Jesus' finished work. Jesus Himself said the bread and wine are His blood and body...we are to remember His finished sacrifice and to look forward to the certainty of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. It wasn't about "struggle". It was about suffering—willing suffering and obedient suffering. Jesus trusted the Father, even as He walked willingly to the cross. Our salvation was obtained not by a struggle but by a willing sacrifice. Jesus was no unwilling victim. Never was there a doubt that He would be successful, obedient, and victorious. He told His disciples in advance that He would rise on the third day. He knew! Never was there doubt. There was only willing suffering. People don't like being in debt to someone that they cannot repay, but God asks us to allow ourselves to be in His debt without obligation or guilt. We are asked simply to believe—and to confess with our mouths Jesus as Lord. He is Lord! Colleen | ||
