My computer is crashed, so I have to borrow my son's for awhile. I don't have time to read and stay caught up here, but I did want to share this. One of my SDA facebook friends up this quote on his status from DA. Copied and pasted, so there may be some mistakes - as it was typed out by the other person.

"The Sabbath calls our thoughts to nature and brings us into communion with the creator. I n the songs of the bird, the sighing of the trees, and the music, of the sea, we still may hear his voice who talked with Adam in Eden in the cool of the day" DA p. 255.

My comment:
I appreciate that Sabbath is a restful blessing which I think is a wonderful thing to do if you choose.

But the Word teaches that we are brought into communion with our Creator through the Holy Spirit. I hear Him through His Spirit every day. Can the Sabbath be given the credit for the work of the Holy Spirit in our communion with God and in our sealing? (Eph 4:30)

Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:2316 ...

How can a day of the week do that?? It is a lifeless thing known only by it's name.
Now the Spirit is another subject altogether.

8th day your assessment is spot on. My next youtube question will be based on this. Wow I remember that growing up we had all our Sabbath rituals and Jesus was "especially present" and "invited in a special way" but this says the SABBATH CONNECTS US to God

Wow... Sabbath=God. This reminds me of what my friend posted on my note on FB. She said that since the 10C's were a reflection of God's character, that to reject the Sabbbath was to reject God. She basically said the same thing that your friend quoted, that the "Sabbath" is synonymous to "God." Yet, in the same breath, she wrote that the Sabbath doesn't save you, God does.

Does that make any sense?

Sondra, how did your friend respond to your comment? FB is such a great place for truth... I'm praying he has lots of EGW fans as friends!!

Still fightin to use my teenage son's who is RPG addicted. sigh.

NO ONE responded to my question. They all just kept praising the statement, and the Sabbath. I have still not seen one SDA praise or thank Jesus on their facebook statuses. IF they have anything at all to say that is remotely spiritual.. it's usually about the Sabbath.

That's why I hate it. Don't care if they love their Sabbath, it just puts Jesus somewhere in the background.

I love your new picture River! That puppy looks downright cute, and would probably suit a headdress just fine (till he could get his teeth into it good - then bye bye headdress).

Vivian, actually the Sabbath DOES equal God, the Son, Jesus! When He came he was the fulfillment of the Sabbath, He is our rest. I think to hold on to the "day" is to reject THE ONE who came to fulfill the old covenant law.

And Sondra, that is very perceptive to see that quote for what it is! I probably would not have given it another thought, especially when I was adventist. But it really looks like the Sabbath is their Holy Spirit. They believe in God and in Jesus' death on the cross, but I don't think they have ever really figured out the Holy Spirit, except that it is your "conscience".

Not the comforter or helper or God living in us, just the one who corrects you if you stray from egw's writings.

To insist that any shadow (legal Sabbath included) pointing to the Cross must still be observed is to deny the reality of Christ. A very serious, salvific matter, indeed. With the inherent mandates of extra sacrificing and the shewbread requirements, the weekly Sabbath cannot be observed without the Levitical system being fully in place. The same holds true for the tithing codes of the Old Covenant.

In awe of the freeness of His grace,

Bb... I guess I should have specified and written Sabbath "day"! They equate the physical "day" to God. They will never be able to understand how Jesus is their Sabbath rest because of the IJ. :-(

thx for picking that up!

Vivian, I know you understand that, I was just expounding on what you were saying :-)
