We may be talking about two different Bibles? I know there was one many years ago that was the KJV which had EGW quotes on every page where we would expect study notes. I don't have a copy of it in my collection of many Bibles. Richard rtruitt@mac.com |

Re the 'poop argument' for unclean meats, what about the green onions, tomatoes, berries, etc that have in the past few years been 'carriers' for E coli? You all know where that organism comes from. People died without eating unclean meat in those cases. They became very ill/died from contaminated plant life. Sorry Surfy and Cordurb...that is a hard spot to be in (not that the rest of us don't deal with it, but it's really hard when it's your spouse). Years ago, when I was Cradle Roll leader, the mom that was teaching the SS lesson was in a hard spot telling the story of Jesus and His disciples as actually catching and eating fish. How she got around it was to tell all the toddlers that the disciples caught fish "so they could sell it and buy food." (Probably the disciples found a local market selling a very ancient form of Linketts.) |

Surfy, Yeah, my kids are slowly being indoctrinated into the "Sabbath" culture. I have two girls who naturally want to be around their mom. I fight the urge to pull them away from SDA culture, but I don't want them to hate God because their mom and dad fought about whether or not the Catholics are the antichrist, etc. So, I read the bible to them every night, and pray the Spirit of Truth guard them and just love them. (many of these good ideas came from folks on this forum - and I thank you all for helping me keep my sanity - and trust in the Lord). Now I see my wife on a crusade to give as many people her Walter Vieth videos as possible. This thread was perfect, though as last week my wife was telling me about how all meats were "unclean." God is faithful and He knows those who take refuge in Him. |

Prophecy Bible - I saw one while at church with my relatives this past weekend. It's put out by Amazing Facts. We did have a nice family time with the relatives, but going to church with them had the opposite effect that they were hoping for. It's interesting that you mentioned Walter Veith. The pastor was talking all about the Jesuit conspriacy. My children are teenagers, one of which is quite the history scholar. All the talk of WWI, WWII, Muslim extremism, etc, being due to the Jesuits got quite a few eye rolls. Cordurb & Surfy, Praying for you and your families. I haven't posted in a while, but I do check in frequently. |

Surfy, Then I read [to her] Mark 7:18,19, (Jesus speaking) "Are you so dull?" He asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.") Here was her answer, said very sarcastically, "So you mean to tell me that Jesus went right out and ate pork? Don't you know that God told the Children of Isreal not to eat certain foods because those animals were dirty, gross creatures that eat garbage and run around in their own poop that absorbs through their hoofs and gets into their meat? And don't you know that meat is very contaminated today and is not fit to eat? I suppose that you think Paul ate pork, too." and on and on.... I have asked my wife that very question, and her answer was, that Jesus was claiming that all CLEAN foods were okay to eat. Unclean animals are in fact, NOT FOOD! He never said it was okay to eat "not" food. The Adventist mind, indeed. When I asked her about Deut 5, where it clearly says that these commandments were not given to our ancestors, but to us, living here, today! He then quotes the ten commandments. "Not to our ancestors," he says. Her reply was, then what commandments did he give to Adam, Noah, Abraham, etc? Obviously it had to have been the ten commandments. I replied, either your church lied to you, or Moses, and by extension, God, lied to the Hebrews. She simply said that they all had the ten commandments given to them. No scriptural support for this, and it defies Deut 5, but that was her answer. Since then, I have looked at Job 1, where he is described as upright and blameless, and described as offering sacrifices, but no mention of keeping the sabbath. Also, after studying what I have learned from various FAF postings, the clean/unclean thing had to so with what was acceptable as a sacrifice to Jehovah. Jesus was the one perfect sacrifice, so no further sacrifices were necessary, and the distinction as to what is an acceptable sacrifice is no longer an issue. Jesus fulfilled that, so the clean/unclean distinction is simply not germane any longer. Christ is so good to me. I pray he renew my wife's mind, so she can see through the teachings and see the gospel truth. |

Churchavguy, I so thank the Lord that my wife and I were saved about the same time. I can tell you this though, that at times, and perhaps for much time, our faith is tried, times when we pray but see no result, and it stretches our faith to the very breaking point. There are others on this forum whose faith is being tried the same way, there is no trial that others are not going through. I am not just talking to you,but others as well, "Have faith in God." If you have a need, prayer does change things, but at times you have to ignore what your eyes see. If its your wife you need to be at your side, have faith in God, if its other needs in your life, have faith in God. Listen...he sees your prayers and your tears. He said in one place, "When I come will I find faith?" Let your faith reach out to hold the yearnings of you heart before him, and just simply believe. When your faith reaches out above the shadows, your heart will find peace. There is a spirit behind Adventism, and it has them in its grip, but friend, Jesus can tear down any stronghold, break every fetter that binds them. Have faith in God. I pray that you and others have a touch from God today. River |

Thank you River, I already know all that you just said to me, but it helps to be reminded. I have posted very rarely here, but I lurk (read others posts) a lot and have learned very much about grace and Christ, and also, about doctrine, from my readings. this place (FAF) is a real blessing to me. |

Isa 44:20 He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside, so that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand? Read this today - we have to trust God to deliver. They can't get themselves free, and our words don't get through unless the Spirit pierces the veil. Truly God's work. Sondra |
