I received an email from Dirk Anderson today. I thought you'd all be interested in it, so I asked if I could share it here. He gave me permission, so I'll quote it below:
quote:In digging through some really old material that I obtained recently, I came across a most unusual eyewitness account of an EGW vision, one which lends credence to the theory of demonic activity. This is a letter from Bro. Hicks, Sept. 3, 1854 (published in the Messenger of Truth vol. 1 no. 3 p. 3, Oct. 19, 1854): "As concerning Ellen G. White's visions, I have heretofore known but little about them. I once saw her have one, and I once saw a table tip over and then tip back again of its own acord so far as I could discern. Neither the phnomenon of the vision, nor of the table tipping did I understand." I marked this quote and didn't pay too much attention to it, but 2 days later I was reading the USA Today newspaper, and since it being near Halloween, they had an article on "ghosts". While I usually ignore these, this one was about Dan Aykroyd (the actor) and his family's involvement with seances, so I started reading it. In that article Dan's father witnessed a seance and one of the phenomena he reported seeing was "tipping tables". I then checked the internet and found that "tipping tables" is a common theme associated with seances. In fact, the online Thesaurus lists "table tipping" as a synonym for a seance. So, perhaps there was a demonic force present in some of the early visions.
This doesn't surprise me, but it is one more detail that supports the obvious conclusion that she was a false prophet. There was more going on than brain damage, and God doesn't tip tables or contradict Himself. Colleen |

Who is this Bro. Hicks? Does anyone know his first name? I'm really wanting to get some valid documentation of this event. This is huge! |

Thanks for the post Colleen. I am increasingly saddened that my father was a minister for a religion (cult) that is a child of the dark side. It seems very probable that the SDA movement is part of a master deception. People who run "from" the cult rarely run "to" something else. Instead, they often abandon God completely. That was my story for too long. Case In Point: There is Facebook group dedicated to xSDA's who are now atheists. |

Robby - you are right. I was SO elated to finally find one sda I knew from growing up in their schools who is now a strong believer and out of the church. He is the only one I've found so far.. and it makes me really sad. My pastor father is still trying to find his way - and has trouble believing the Word of God at all. Sondra |
