Has anyone else seen the "documentary" Cosmic Conflict: Origin of Evil? This is put out by Amazing Facts. Doug Batchelor is the Executive Producer. Why anyone would want to take credit for this thing is unimaginable. Please, please look at this documentary (their word, not mine) and see if it leaves you as speechless I was, and still am. Help me find the right word or words for this. The absolute creepiest part, which is very hard to decide, is about 30 minutes in, when Jesus is creating Adam from the earth. Run, don't walk, to see this production...you won't be disappointed. It is stunning, but not in a good way. Oh, it is here: http://vimeo.com/6396514 |

The clay Adam is very creepy! There is God, working with terracotta clay! Slick propaganda with a rather weird look to it...couldn't watch it all. |

Sorry, I cannot go watch that. I get creeped out just thinking that I was an SDA and believed all the "stuff". I am being nice when I say it that way as it is heresy and blasphemy to our Awesome God. Diana L |

Yes, Diana, it is the usual Great Controversy "stuff". I guess my shock to it wasn't the content, I already knew what that would be. It was how ridiculous and hokey it was. If I were looking for answers to spiritual questions (and knew nothing about SDA or anything) and came across this production, I would not even be able to hear the story they are trying to tell, because the visuals would turn me off so much. It really looks like a joke because it so poorly done. So, maybe that is a good thing, I can't imagine people being sucked in by this silly thing. |

oowee, Uncle Dougy has got angels that look like the United Nations, the pre-incarnate Jesus with a beard & body of flesh and blood. At least he didn't try and humanize the Trinity (other than only showing "Jesus" in this video) EGW must be rolling in her grave that they didnt' show the angels running around with their gold cards or show the golden shelves in heaven |

Oh my forgive me if I find it comical but I just got to the part where "God formed man out of the earth" it's kind of funny and creepy at the same time. And Lucifer with his lazer beam is too funny...I'm glad I no longer have tithes going to this kind of thing |

Yes, for me the production value (if that is what you call it) is just so bad, beyond bad. That is the thing, I'm having a hard time finding the words to express, how terrible this "productin" is. It looks like possibly, a high school project at best. Yes, Enoch, it is funny and sad all at the same time. Like I said, "no words". When will SDA's just preach the gospel, the Bible as is, without adding all this craziness? |

I have SDA friend on face book who was talking about Cosmic Conflict just last week on her face book comments. She said her kids ask to watch it every day! Sounds horrifying to me. |

Father God, I thank you for Jesus. He made it possible for us to come directly to you. I am bringing these children to you who are watching these horrible dvds. Their young minds are being soaked in heresy and untruths. Rescue them Father as well as their mother. Teach the whole family about you and how much you love them and they do not need these lies. Thank you for hearing our prayers for these precious ones who you love so much. Diana L |

Thank you for your prayers for my face book friend and her family. Her husband is in training to be a pastor (in Texas). He actually is pastoring a church there. Their kids are in a church school there also. Their veils are tight but I know that veil can be lifted...I've been there myself! |

My heart is touched with the need for prayers for little children who want to watch this kind of thing. I'm praying now. It would appear SDAs dislike this movie as well. I went onto Facebook to the SDA discussion group and an ardent SDA started the topic---here's the link http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=2204681943&topic=11806 Here's a couple of quotes from her (you may also want to check out all the posts, it's sad to what extent they will go to prove EGW is right) ________________________________________________ Quote Ok, so i finally got to watch the Cosmic Conflict movie. This is supposed to be the great controversy between good and evil, on film. And even though the intentions were probably good and they worked very hard and spent a lot of money on this project, i have to say i think the result was quite utterly disappointing. And the only reason i am addressing this is because i am very concerned that the powerful way Ellen White display this message in her Conflict of the Ages series, are brought down to so low levels in this movie that i believe it could do a lot more harm than good. To me it looks like a poor attempt for a star wars like science fiction movie, and the actors (particularly the main actors -Satan and Jesus- are doing a very poor job imo.) I just think you should think twice before recommending this movie to anyone. Share the Conflict of the ages series in stead, because i am sure that anyone who has seen a few movies during their lifetime (which is supposed the target group here i believe) will most probably find this ridiculous. And the last thing i want and i'm sure that goes for most of you, is for our message to be scoffed at due to a poor project. After watching this movie, i was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Not only did i find the version of heaven very unappealing and uncredible and the actors poor. It looks to me that they were more busy with the special effects than to actually reach out the lost souls out there. In stead of feeling moved, i felt embarrassed and almost a bit upset that what is so intelligently and beutifullly described in the Conflict of the Ages series were practically trampled on by this movie. (against their intentions of course, but still..) Am i being harsh and judgemental, no, i don't think so, i am honestly very concerned that this movie can in fact do a lot more harm than good. Maybe you are a person who liked it, but judging from comments i have read from people inside the Adventist church as well as people outside, the opinions are very mixed. But i see people are reacting to some of the same things i brought up here, some say it could be good as a comedy etc. I also read that Doug Batchelor himself regretted some things about this movie, and said he wish he could do it again. So i repeat, please think twice before presenting this movie. & A scene from the sci-fi movie 'Star Wars': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlURzhz7X6c ...compare that to the 'Cosmic Conflict' movie, from 2 minute onwards. http://vimeo.com/6396514 the battle scene with Satan against the good angels/jedi's, the lightsabers in different colours, even the music!! hello... (I actually donated money to this project and ordered four dvd's....oh well, next time i will think twice. And no, this does not mean i have lost my respect to Amazing Facts, i will continue to watch and recommend their sermons and material, but this one was a mistake imo.) _____________________________________End quote Perhaps one day these people will see the whole production as flawed in it's presentation of distorting the Bible as well as flawed in not meeting Hollyweird's standards |

I could not watch it complete, in part because I didn't want to (I was feeling like it was something better for me to avoid) and in part because I'm at the university at the moment and need to continue doing some reading... So I just watched a few scenes, including that initial battle, when somebody (Lucifer?) is speaking to other "angels" and when that Jesus started making that clay man... Really weird looking scene. The main thing that "shocked" me was that it had, in general, a certain look that I could only define as "cultic"... I don't know how to explain it, but the way things were represented reminded me of things I've seen from Mormonism, JW or Scientology. In definitive, everything I watched in that video looked somehow creepy to me. Not interested in watching it any more. Another thing I noticed is that in the beginning of the story, after Batchelor speaks, they represent Heaven as a place in space... From what I can remember they show a planet that looks similar to Saturn but with three rings, and the camera also travels through the Orion Stargate... Then it reaches some sort of golden city, that is where that big battle is being hold. Anyway, what I want to point out is that according to them, Heaven is in space. That would mean that God lives within our realm of physical matter... Not out of time and space. I donīt know what is the general view in Christian circles, but it isnīt the first time I heard Adventists saying that angels live somewhere in space. You know what I realised now? If that were true, that would mean that it would be possible for human beings to go to Heaven through our own means... Maybe not feasible with the technology we currently possess, but who knows what might we develope in the future? Not feasible, but definitely possible. That would, somehow, discard Jesus as the ONLY way to Heaven, don't you think? |
