Dear friends, I sent this e-mail to a beloved Faf friend today who I know is going through much. I don't normally share personal e-mails with others and try my best to be depended upon never to share what others share with me. However, there is nothing here revealing and I will not share that friends name, but I really feel there are others going through much also and I want to encourage you also. Hi __________, Monday I was on the mountain top, today I am back down in the valley. It seems as if it would be nice, that we could get more done for our Lord if he were to keep us on the mountain top, but in all the years of my Christianity, the mountain top experiences lasts only a day or two. I think that without them I would become so discouraged that I could not continue. Yet in the valley is where we see into the shadows as his love illuminates the dark recesses. We find in Matthew 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. That is the way we are, we are so like Peter, on the mountain top everything is bright and shining and we want to build a tabernacle there, we want to stay there, but no sooner than he brings us out of the dark valleys of this life to where we can see forever, then the light is gone and we plunge down into that dark valley of the shadows of uncertainty, of trial and sadness of heart. The thing is, dear child of God, he walks with us in the valley of shadows. Through the experience of 38 years of traipsing across the valleys of shadow where there is war, dust, smoke, dryness and on to the other side and up that mountain to stand and look in victory ever so briefly, then to plunge back down into another valley of shadow and trial, I have learned that he walks with us to guard our every way. Dear one, do not be discouraged here in this land of shadow of smoke and the blinding dust of battle for it is here when his glory over shadows us. He catches in his hand, every teardrop, he hold us up when our steps falter, and no matter how dark it may seem, he will take us through that valley. River |

Very true... I have seen the highs as being God giving me the strength and added faith to face the next battle. I also know someone on here who is going through a deep valley and that is all I can say. The worst battles are the ones you feel you must keep to yourself mostly, and this is one.. Father please comfort and strengthen all those in our circle who are not able to openly share the trial and ask for our prayers. Bind the enemy from his attacks to destroy and steal what You are building in people's lives. Let them sense you with them in a very real way.. even if they are facing their giants alone. Amen. Thank you River for sharing this encouraging email. I needed this today as I am going through some very trying times with my daughter and her prescription drug addiction. |
