The rest of the story is Jesus, not me. I am not the rest of the story of salvation. I am not capable of helping Jesus "finish" the plan of savation. Jesus is the "Rest of the story" of salvation. I am still waiting on a response from any current Adventist to take up the plea that I put out there at the end of my "story of leaving Adventism" Here it is: Part 12, detour... .... I’ve had questions, so here are some responses. The question I want to address in this installment is “why can’t you just walk away from Adventism?” “Why do you feel you have to make a point of shoving this fact into our faces?” Before I address that good question, I have a question for you! Have you read the covenant studies that I mentioned? If you have not, it will be hard for you to understand my answers. The studies are not that long, and they are fascinating! I have yet to have a current Seventh-day Adventist take me up on my offer to read through these short notes. If you have done so, or are willing to do so, would you please let me know! Please consider reading now. It may bring you an understanding of the Gospel that will change your life. It may open your heart to be able to love God, and to believe that He knows you. Those of you who consider yourself agnostic or atheist, would you consider looking at God from another angle? Is it possible that religion hasn’t worked for you because it was presented to you as, well, “religion”, and not a lifestyle as a child of a God who loves you so much that He already did the hard part for you? I lived most of my life without a complete picture of God. I only heard the bad news, and I only got a limited and distorted view of the gospel, not the rest of the story. I thought I was the “rest” of the story. The reality is that Jesus, not Me, is the “rest of the story”. What a relief. His completed work is explained in many books of the Bible, but for me the Covenant studies helped me to put it into perspective. So please consider reading. It may just revolutionize your life. It would be worth the time to at least check it out. Would you consider reading it with an open mind? If it seems too good to be true, look up the passages in the scripture that are mentioned, and read them in context for yourself. Ask God to reveal truth to you, to remove the veil He describes, and to remove any influence that is not of Him. He will do that if you sincerely want Him to. Here is the link again: http://www.graceplace.org/index.cfm/page/Covenant_Studies You will see the following individual links once you get to the main page, so be sure you read each one: God Keeps His Promises The Old and New Covenants The Better Covenants How Christ Fulfilled the Law Beyond the Shadows Resting in Christ’s Finished Work Is Sabbath Observance Required for New Covenant Christians? I am looking forward to hearing your responses! Lori PS. That was a couple weeks ago. I have had a couple people who have said they WILL read the studies when they have time. Im encouraged by that, becuase I believe they are sincere. The rest of the friends (probably over 60 or more) have not responded. A few have sent me suggested EGW readings or Adventist argument books. None have sent any suggested scripture, other than an isolated proof text or two. No one suggests I study a book of the Bible in order to substantiate the claims of adventism. One has suggested I study Buddhism. Anyway, please keep praying. Thanks, Lori |

Bless You, Lori! What you have written is BEAUTIFUL! I love those studies as well. The friends God used to show me the Living Water are from GracePlace. This was the first non-SDA church I ever worshiped in. We were back to visit in July. I love that place! Best Of Blessings, Lori! Pegg |

Buddhism and Adventism are pretty compatible.. well Buddhism is more about love and gives you plenty of lives to figure it out. =) Guess if those were the only two choices.. I know which one I'd pick. I so wish they'd take you up on your challenge Lori.. it's so interesting they don't. I ran across a great sda challenge written by Doc. I found it by accident while looking for an article on Mark Martin's website. THIS is the one I would really love to challenge my family and friends with. I'd actually pondered asking my mom to do this. Reading the NT alone for a month with no other outside commentary, just prayer. http://members.tripod.com/~Help_for_SDAs/Challenge.htm |

Lori, I know it feels discouraging to know that so many of them remain closed off. I sometimes feel like I am just not getting anywhere. One thing to keep in mind is, your story is OUT THERE, and God can and will use it for His glory. It is a beautiful love story of God and you, and it will not go to waste. In fact, my former sda pastor might be reading as we speak on my fb notes. I have been writing to him and have asked him to read it!! (See members section for details) Meanwhile, we keep praying... |

Wow.. Does Doc know that Diane?? So cool!! A few months ago, my blog found its way to a Jewish believer in Israel who has traveled the same path we did, down the Torah Observant road. As our conversation transpired, and he realized I was NOT Jewish, and I being amazed that he WAS, and had had the same experience as we did, I knew it was a God thing. He has opened my eyes so much and is a very powerful voice to add to this discussion. The Gentile Hebrew Roots faction are dancing with the devil in thinking they can draw wisdom from Judaism. He has written a booklet, which was until yesterday... still in revision. He sent me the final copy to share with the world, and I will be posting it on my blog soon. It's a very very strong word about the all-sufficiency of Christ - and that HE has to be the center and end all, and beginning of everything. It's AWESOME...... okay.. just a little excited. God does such amazing things.. I never cease to be amazed! Sondra |

I just printed out 20 copies of the Bible Challenge.(enough for the little Morro Bay church) I will put them in my car and the first time I get down to Morro Bay on a Saturday.. I will go in the door where they have potluck during church services and leave them on a couple of tables. Hopefully at least a few will be taken home and read instead of being trashed... Don't know... but it is worth a try. :-) Maybe I will print out some more and put on the windshields of the cars in the parking lot also. :-) Actually..... I may just do the windshield thing at San Luis Obispo and Templeton churches also (both larger churches)gotta print up some more. :-) Skeeter |

I have a total of 50 in my car now. I decided any time I pass a SDA building (dont wanna call it a church anymore) and see any cars there at all I will stop and put one on the windshield, or poke through an open window. :-) My MIL might just kill me if she knew I was planning to do this...LOL (shhh... don't tell her) Skeeter |

I don't think I could have physically taken that challenge (let alone mentally or spiritually!) while I was SDA - Not even nominal SDA. If I could have and I ever got started, my SDA experience would have ended much sooner. God had His timing, though. When He was ready for me to come out --> out I came. This gives me faith for those I love. There Is No Stopping Our God! Pegg |
