Saw something interesting this morning.. the greater and lesser lights are mentioned in Gen. 1. The lesser light rules the night.. if it's visible at all during the day, it does not illumine anything at all. There is no way this lesser light can add anything to the sun. Its only use in regard to light is when the sun is not visible. The lesser light does not generate anything "new". It can only reflect light, but does not have a source of light in itself. If we have Jesus the SON/SUN - there is absolutely no way we need a lesser light to bring more knowledge. We are all lesser lights to the extent we reflect Christ. I do learn things from other believers.. yes, but not in the sense that I trust in another person's revelation for all of my understanding and interpretation of truth as sda's use egw. I don't care what they CLAIM, this I have seen this up close and personal. It's SO wrong.. and an indication that people who do this are living in the darkness. If they had the Light of Life, another "authoritative source of truth" would be superfluous. I was at a wonderful conference this weekend hearing a pastor from India. I was so amazed at how much I heard this weekend by this teacher that God had already taught me the last two years. It's not that I'm smart or special, but we are of One Spirit - and when He says we have no need for anyone to teach us these things.. it's true!! The word of God does not lie. If we all relied on the Holy Spirit in total complete trust and obedience.. God would illuminate His wisdom with us too. This pastor is not a preferred believer, he's a submitted obedient one. When we put our trust in another person to lead us into all truth, we are supplanting the Holy Spirit and will be vulnerable to many deceptions, not just Adventism. |

so true Sondra!! Of course I think the "lesser light" in Adventism doesn't reflect the Greater Light/SON at all. I also think that within Adventism is that they look to the law to define their walk with Christ. I see this also as denying the Holy Spirit... i.e., that He's not powerful enough to make changes in us, we have to use the law to show us how and the Holy Spirit just helps us... sigh. ~vivian |

When I was challenged to read the NT by the SDA pastor I read it. Then I found FAF about 3 months later and found that ALL the formers on here, and remember Thomas Francis, especially, had learned what God had taught me with His Holy Spirit. Then God told me to go to the church I now attend. I signed up for the Starting Point class and found that all I had learned from God and here was taught in Starting Point. I was elated and awed by how God does things. He teaches those who want to know the same thing. I have learned that when the Holy Spirit is in a person there is a connection with another believer. Thank you awesome God. Diana L |
