There was a note written on facebook that was a copy of the study of the New Covenant that Clay Peck has on his website. The study is excellent and easy to read/understand. Of course there are disagreements about the note... but it made me wonder, WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR AN ADVENTIST TO UNDERSTAND THAT CHRIST FULFILLED THE OLD COVENANT??? The New Covenant is about the cross event, Christ's blood cleansing me of my sins, my sin nature buried in Christ, I am now a new creation... then the boulder hit me... oooooohhhhh... if you don't believe in Christ's finished work at the cross, the New Covenant wouldn't make any sense to the Investigative Judgment believer. I had never really thought how the Investigative Judgment is really Adventism's New Covenant. It seems that the church works hard at separating those 2 concepts... keeping them at a large distance from each other. Can you imagine the Christian community's reaction if they understood this is what the Seventh-Day Adventist "New Covenant" really is? We should stop calling it the "Investigative Judgment" and call it what it really means to the Adventist "the SDA New Covenant." This is how I responded on the thread:
quote:OK... I'm going to bring up the "elephant" that is standing in the middle of this thread! ... Investigative Judgement. I believe that the NC encompasses the work that Christ accomplished for me at the cross. His blood took away my sins, they are "remembered no more", He has cleansed my conscience, my sin nature has been buried with Him and by His resurrection, I am a new creation. Christ has fulfilled the OC. For the person who believes in the Investigative Judgment, I believe their NC looks like this: 1. Christ died and then transfers our sins by His blood into heaven and defiles the sanctuary (through His blood) with our sins that are written on books. 2. Sometime after 1844, Christ starts the work of "cleansing" the sanctuary. However, the sins that are then "blotted" out need to remain somehow... maybe in some sort of holding tank. 3. Then, while the sins are somewhere, there is the millennial reign and then the sins are placed on Satan before he is thrown into the lake of fire. Only then are the sins truly blotted out and completely gone. According to this, what has Christ fulfilled? C'mon... I'd rather go back to the OC and slaughter a lamb. This way I would know that at least my sins would be covered and I would have atonement with God until the next year. With the IJ, your sins are not completely dealt with until they are placed on Satan. You need Satan to completely blot out your sins!! If you believe in the IJ, it would be difficult to comprehend what Christ fulfilled at the cross for you. If your sins remain somewhere, the sacrifice of the cross was not sufficient for you... and understanding how Christ's finished work fulfills the OC wouldn't make any sense. gotta let go of the IJ to understand how Christ fulfills the Old Covenant...
hmmmm... letting go of the "SDA New Covenant"... truly a work that is done by God. I know if He can create things out of nothing... He can draw people to Him, remove the "SDA New Covenant" and show them the truth of His New Covenant. ~vivian |

I LOVE your response, Vivian!!!!!!!! Finally, someone willing to speak up about the "elephant" in the room. I think that is telling it like it truly is!! I haven't seen that thread, did anyone respond to it? I don't see how they could! |

This note by Clay Peck was posted by Gregg Chaddic. If you want to read it, make sure that when you "friend" him that you let him know that you post here on FAF. This way he'll know where you saw this. There have been many responses to the note... everything from "I love my Sabbath because of the rest that I find in it" (sad they find rest in a day instead of Christ) to questioning his [Gregg's] love for God. On the flip side, there are also responses where people agree with the note as well. Interesting reading... ~vivian |

Hey you guys. This is Gregg and I'm a pastor with Clay at Grace Place. If you never read his "New Covenant Christians" study you can now on my facebook Notes tab. I'll be posting "Is The Sabbath Required For New Covenant Christians" in the next couple of days, followed by "Transitioning to the New Covenant" after that. I have about 1200 friends on facebook, and there are several other pastors (SDA and former) posting in the notes, so it represents a fairly large potential audience. I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead some (all) to turn to Christ so the veil can be removed. In Christ alone... |

Yes, they are, under the "Members and Attendees" link, then under "Resources". Also available at Clay's blog, www.claypeck.com, click on 'Articles' on the top bar. Great resource. In Christ alone... |

Hi Peggy... have you been able to find Gregg? If not, I can suggest to you to be "friends" with him. I just saw earlier today (but haven't had a chance to read it yet) that he posted the Sabbath portion of the study. ~vivian |

No I think I'm having trouble with facebook. I hadn't noticed but my e-mail was spelled wrong when I signed in, so maybe that's it--I'll keep trying when I have time. I'll check the spelling when I sign in-see if that's it. Peggy |
