Deb, I neglected to welcome you to FAF and to thank you for the information about the change in church name.
Hope to hear more of you on FAF.

Handmaiden,

(I love that name!) Thanks for the reminder that Jesus used only 12 disciples to turn the world upside down.

May we all who love Jesus, the ONLY way, the TRUTH and the LIFE walk so closely with Him that He will use us to impact the world.

Deb, welcome from me, too. I'm so glad you've come to join us! I'd love to hear your story when you're ready to share.

Oh, I'm so glad I made a big booboo.

When I said Hmmm? I was wondering why would Javagirl hope her son would go to Southeaster. Somehow, I understood her to be hoping her son to go to a SDA college. And I couldn't understand that. I'm happy I misunderstood.

I would love to go to Michigan. I have tons of relatives in Grand Rapids, but at this time it's not possible for me to attend. It would be so nice to get together with a group of formers. Right now, I don't feel that I belong anywhere and a little bit of fellowship would go a long way. The Lord knows when he is ready to provide for that too.

Enjoy your meetings, and I hope to watch/hear them soon online.

Hi Deb,

Welcome to the forum. Are you the one who gave your testimony on Friday?...You spoke to my heart. Yes, there was opposition but that simply means we were doing the right thing in the right place and at the right time. God's Spirit was moving and the enemy is worried. Praise the Lord!

I must have met you at the meetings but not sure as I am poor with names. And, I had to hurry out from the second meeting to see about getting insulin for Jan. We ended up at the hospital and never made it to the last meeting which I understand turned out to be "interesting". The saga of Jan's meds is to long to share here but is another example how God works all things for good.

Sunday morning, we had a breakfast together with Bob and his Jan and we prayed in the parking lot before they left for home. One guy in a pickup truck said; "Hey, for a moment I thought I was late for church".

After Roseburg, Jan and I went over to the coast and had a wonderful trip north. We went as far as Westport before heading home in the Puget Sound.

Hi Phil,

No that was Cheryl who gave her testimony Friday in Roseburg. Yes she has a wonderful story of finding salvation in Christ. I will pass on your kind words.

My husband is Merwin and we sat right behind you & Jan on Friday night. Merwin did the announcements and introductions, and shared his testimony on Saturday afternoon. We also enjoyed getting to meet everyone however briefly. We were praying for Jan's insulin situation and are glad to know that God worked everything out.

Thank you for continued prayers for the people who attended. We did have some current Adventists come and we need to be praying that they will respond to the Holy Spirit's working on their hearts.

Debbie,

Jan says "hello". She enjoyed talking with you and we both got a lot out your husdand's testimony. Some of what Merwin had to say sounded a lot like my own story where I attempted to become a "happy sinner" only it wasn't working.

Welcome Deb! :-)

Here's a link to what I think is an official statement by the SDA church on their abortion policy.

Debbie,

Was your husband the one with the beard and the cowboy boots who has a trucker ministry?

I would like to give him a call. could you hook me up to call him please?
I wanted to talk to him, but I am a little shy and I missed the opportunity.

Welcome to this forum.
River

P.S. I am the old dude that was sitting by Phil Friday night. I think I might have spoken to you.

River really is shy. His life is simply an exampe of what happens when the Holy Spirit is in control.

River,

I do remember meeting you. My husband Merwin is the one with the trucking ministry and he said you can give him a call at our ministry number - 541-643-1989.

Thank you for the warm welcome from everyone.

Debbie,

Thanks so much for your help, I felt so bad that my fear of approaching people once again defeated me in what I wanted to speak to him about.

I have got to get past this, but two years ago I would not have went to that meeting at all, so I guess it's getting better.

Now I have another chance and I am humbled by it.

I just wanted to say that Richard and I have completed our first day of travel on this second, longer leg of the Tour of Encouragement. We actually got away quite late because, as I've mentioned elsewhere, we spent the day yesterday getting my mom inducted into and settled into her new community.

We are in a little town somewhere in Utah tonight, and it's quite interesting to be driving through the amazing stratified red cliffs while reading a book loaned to me by a friend: Under The Banner Of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. It's a story about twin murders committed in the 80s by two fundamentalist Mormon brothers and looks into their thinking and motivations. I've barely started the book, but it just gave me a sort-of surreal feeling to be driving through the hot, dry, rarefied beauty of Utah while reading this story of an extremist "fringe" of a major American religion.

Richard and I do covet your prayers that God will be glorified, that truth will be known, and that we and all involved in this Tour will be faithful and submitted to His Spirit.

More tomorrow!

We had a most interesting day driving through Utah. It's totally beautiful...we stopped for a Subway at lunchtime (I can't even remember the town), and there in the food mart where the Subway was located was a rack of books for sale. I couldn't resist picking up The Mormon Cookbook. (No, I didn't buy it...) Too funny—it had recipes on the left side of each spread, and Mormon trivia on the right. One page amused me...it contained "Mormon vocabulary"...

Ahem—something seemed vaguely familiar...

I spent the afternoon writing commentary for the first week of the 3rd quarter SS Lessons. The EG White quote for Thursday has an excerpt from Manuscript Releases vol 5 that totally confirms where we got our twisted ideas. Just for kicks I'll copy it below:

"The world's Redeemer passed over the ground where Adam fell because of his disobeying the expressed law of Jehovah; and the only begotten Son of God came to our world as a man, to reveal to the world that men could keep the law of God. Satan, the fallen angel, had declared that no man could keep the law of God after the disobedience of Adam. He claimed the whole race under his control.

"The Son of God placed Himself in the sinner's stead, and passed over the ground where Adam fell, and endured the temptation in the wilderness which was a hundredfold stronger than was or ever will be brought to bear upon the human race. Jesus resisted the temptations of Satan in the same manner that every tempted soul may resist, by referring him to the inspired record and saying, 'It is written.'

"Christ overcame the temptations as a man. Eery man may overcome as Christ overcame. He humbled Himself for us. He was tempted in all points like as we are. He redeemed Adam's disgraceful failure and fall and was conqueror, thus testifying to all the unfallen worlds and to fallen humanity that man could keep the commandments of God through the divine power granted to him of heaven. Jesus the Son of God humbled Himself for us, endured temptation for us, overcame in our behalf, to show us how we may overcome; He has thus bound up His interest with humanity by the closest ties, and has given the positive assurance that we shall not be tempted above that we are able….

"The world's Redeemer came not only to be a sacrifice for sin but to be an example to man in a holy human character.…
"We are ever to be thankful that Jesus has proved to us by actual facts that man can keep the commandments of God, giving contradiction to Satan's falsehood that man cannot keep them. The Great Teacher came to our world to stand at the head of humanity, to thus elevate and sanctify humanity by His holy obedience to all of God's requirements showing it is possible to obey all the commandments of God. He had demonstrated that a lifelong obedience is possible."

I referred to this earlier today on another thread, but it is so heinous that I want to share it. We really were taught a completely unbiblical view of reality.

Tomorrow we're on to Lincoln; we're in Colorado tonight.

We continue to pray for you all, and we thank you for your prayers for us and Ratzlaffs and all those involved in the ToE. (Thanks for the acronym, Diana!)

More tomorrow...

Thank you for posting these quotes. EGW: Satan's lie is that man cannot keep the commandments of God. Bible: Romans 3--"There is no one righteous, not even one..."all have sinned". Who is telling the truth? Wow--it just strikes me afresh that she is absolutely calling God's word a lie!

They just don't get it. Keeping the 10 commandments doesn't make us perfect. Christ's blood does that.

Matthew 19 is the story about the rich, young ruler that came to see Jesus. He claimed to keep all the commandments but Jesus said that wasn't enough. V18,19" "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your posessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." NIV

Think about that one for a bit....

It just boggles my mind that I believed all that rubbish at one time. I want to call it something else, but I do not want to get kicked off the forum. At times I can be very human!!!
Have a safe journey with Jesus. Let every one in Lincoln know that we are praying for them. I am sure all realize what an awesome God we have.

ps I saw the Tour of Encouragement referred to as T o E, so just shortened it to ToE. So the acronym is not mine. I have been thinking of a way to use that. Haven't come up with an idea yet!!
