Has anyone done a parallel analysis of SDA fundamental beliefs #1 and #18? What I'm looking for is wrapped up in the paragraph and sentence structure of the words they use to describe the function and claims of each. How do they differ and how do they overlap? If anyone thinks this is a worth while exercise and in case no one has done this already, I'll include copies of both in this post so y'all don't have to go looking for them.....I started a color coding comparison of concepts but I can barely tell a verb from a coma so if some one can do this or start the ball rolling and everyone can chime in.. ---------------------------------------- One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history. Not sure. The last sentence in each are essentially the same. Note the following:
They affirm that the Scriptures are "necessary for salvation," but they do not affirm that they are "sufficient for salvation." In other words, we need more than the Scriptures, and that is where FB #18 comes in. This is no accidental ommission. Note also: This literaly says SDAs believe the Bible because Ellen White says so. In other words, they are admitting Ellen is above the Bible, and she is the reason they use the Bible. Even when you try your best to hide the truth about who you are, it always ends up coming through somehow. | ||
