Pegg, I'm sorry,I didn't know you were asking a question, I thought you were giving an opinion. Plus I still don't really understand the question. But I am with Seekinglight and I would rather it be moved over to the family section. So I think I'll quit and sing to my daughters doggy. River |

That's a long debate, for sure! I am not going to comment since I don't fill I have a definite opinion on the topic, and I should have read the whole thing before doing it ;) But I felt compelled to share this with all of you. This I read in a book from a Christian evangelist from the UK, Roger Carswell: He tells about a friend of him, dying of cancer. In that situation he told his daughter, who also had cancer, the words of a hymn by Dorotyh Greenwell (1821-1882).
I am not skilled to understand What God hath willed, what God hath planned; I only know that at His right hand Is One Who is my saviour. Isaiah 45:15 says 'Truly, you are a God who hides yourself, O God of Israel, the Saviour'. God can be misterious as well! Sometimes He hides himself from us, but it's still possible to trust Him in the darkness. He promises His presence and will never forsake us. He revealed enough to make faith intelligent, but has reserved sufficient to leave us trusting in Him. Now, the debate can continue |

Pegg, Obviously, the ungodly in hell didn't confess their sins and were consequently not forgiven for them. Their sins are not automatically erased nor somehow forgiven anyway. With God, unlike with humankind, there is no statute of limitation. The Bible nowhere teaches that unconfessed sins are forgotten or somehow overlooked by God. This would be in violation of His divine justice. Only those who are covered with the robe of Christ's righteousness are blessed with eternal bliss. These unforgiven sins are a perpetual testimony against the wicked in hell. Sin is a big deal to God. Sin is cosmic treason and a crime. It ultimately separates us from God--the biblical definition of death. Annihilationism, as the quick-fix, makes a mockery of the holiness of God by minimizing the seriousness of sin. Satan and his angels never have a good day. For thousands, perhaps even millions, of years already evil angels have been imprisoned in "pits of darkness" according to the Apostle Peter (2 Peter 2:4). Thus, God has placed Satan and his angels under conscious torment ever since He cast them out of heaven. They increasingly realize that there is absolutely no hope of regaining heaven and their torment will soon become even more intense and dreadful. Their thought of loss is far greater than the thought of gain. After all, how can angels, who are immaterial ministering spirits, be consumed or obliterated by literal fire? God has utilized the tool of "separation" for evil angels like he did with Adam and Eve. God's quarantine of evil angels from heaven is the same fate for the ungodly human beings. In the truest sense, "quarantine" is precisely what hell is. The truth is that heaven only gets better while hell only gets worse. What a contrast! Dennis Fischer |

"Unconfessed sins not forgiven" Hmmm, that sounds like EGW. Every unconfessed sin will stand at the judgment.Precisely the issue that keep SDAs from having security of salvation. Hec |

Hec, Remember the context for my comments--those in hell forever and why. Hell's worst feature is its duration. As I mentioned earlier, heaven only gets better while hell only gets worse. Dennis Fischer |

Hec, those who have accepted Jesus DO have their sins forgiven. "Unconfessed sins" belong to those who are unrepentant. That phrase does not apply to those who have received the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice. In John 3:3-5, Jesus stated the qualification for entry into the kingdom of God: being born of the Spirit. When we acknowledge our helpless sinfulness and receive Jesus' blood as our sacrifice and payment for our intrinsic sin, every sin we have or will ever commit is covered and forgiven in Him. Unconfessed sins belong to those who have not confessed their sin before the Lord Jesus and received His sacrifice and forgiveness. Those who are in Christ have passed from death to life and will not come into judgment (John 5:24). Colleen |

Thanks for the explanation. I guess, I'll need a lot of patience from you here, because, It seems that I'm learning a new language. Sometimes you say one thing and I understand somthing else using the same words. I've heard that that is a mark of SDAs, JW, Mormons, etc. They use the right words with different meaning. So when I hear a word or sentence, immediately, I give it the meaning I'm used to. Let me se If I understood: Unconfessed sins: SDA = individual sin (behavior) that I have not asked for specific forgiveness.(These will keep me out of heaven if they are not confessed before my name comes up in the IJ, even if I don't remember them. Diablo! what a load! Evangelical: Al my sins when I have not accepted Jesus as my savior. Once I accept Jesus as my savior, all my sins, past, present, and future are already forgiven, therefore there are no unconfessed sins. Jesus! what a freedom! How did I do? Hec PS: OH, And Colleen, Thanks for the book, I got it yesterday. I'm half way through already. Beautiful. Many, many things in the story parallels mine. |

Excellent, Hec! You got it! Once we are in Jesus, all our sins are forgiven. The Holy Spirit convicts us when we commit "sins", and He leads us to repentance and surrender at ever-deepening levels. But our SIN--our natural spiritual deadness--is gone when we accept Jesus. We are alive in Christ! The sins we commit now are the result of still being in mortal flesh, not the result of being spiritually dead. The Holy Spirit keeps teaching and nudging us to grow and surrender and act with integrity and give God the temptations that dog our heels. If we commit a sin after we have been born again and refuse to acknowledge our culpability, that reality puts distance between us and the Lord Jesus. We feel less vulnerable to Him, more "brittle" and cranky; more self-protective and even arrogant or self-loathing. We still need to confess to Him and repent, putting ourselves in submission to His eternal sacrifice and love for us. But committing a "sin" does not disqualify us from salvation when we are born again. The mystery of it all is that the Holy Spirit has set up residence in our spirits, and He continues to teach us and confront us with the truth of Scripture and the truth about ourselves in light of Scripture. Even our ongoing acknowledgement, confession, and surrender of ourselves and our sins to Jesus is the work of God which He performs in us as His children. We can trust Him to keep pushing us toward truth, reality, and integrity. And yes—Adventism has a unique lexicon. They've succeeded in deceiving the Christian world at large because they use the same words but privately apply unique interpretations. Glad you're enjoying the book! Colleen |
