Amen Keri, such insights you received while mowing! It reminds me that every moment of our lives is sacred, even while doing mundane chores. |

Sure Colleen, the reason I like to dunk is to confirm by testimony that I have died to sin, buried (go down into the water, come up) raised with him, I don't like sprinkling simply because it is not the proper signification of the death, burial and Resurrection. Having said that, if someone likes it some other way, that's for them to decide. I mean they's an awful lot of people that like to do things halfway, so lettem. When Jesus got baptized by John I think he was signifying his soon coming death burial and resurrection, I don't think he was fulfilling some ceremony, he must have been testifying of things to come, at least I like to think that. Shoot, I'd probably be blessed if I got dunked again because I feel I know him a whole lot better than I did 30 some odd ago. But that is what baptism meant to me back then and it still does, death (went down into the water) Burial (Pastor laid me under the water) brought me back up (Resurrected with him) saved forevermore. Now rejoicing in my sure salvation, by faith in Jesus. This old flesh may sin from time to time, but thank God ain't no grave gonna hold my body down, not because of what I have done, but what Jesus has done. When he got hold of this old alcoholic he got a good hold and if I keep talking I'm going to have to get up from here and run around the house a time or two. I tell you what, I forget all about my theology and cemetery schoolin' when my soul starts standing up inside me and shoutin' Hallelujah. River |

And you can say all you want to about the alters (what churches still gottem) but I've seen a few go down to those old alters, pour their heart out to God in repentance and come up a new man. Your super educated theology don't mean squat to me when I am praying with someone who is repenting on their knees before God and God is busy saving souls. Friend if you ain't saved an anxious bench may do you some good. River |

You talkin' to me, River, or are you talkin' to the messes, ah, I mean, masses? I don't know why I like you so much, but I DO! I'm finding I have many many alters - and I'm not on my knees - I'm flat on my face! Keri |

The Impact of a Christian Mother Since the annual Mother's Day was recently celebrated here in the United States, I feel compelled to share the following God-honoring story. I have been reading the book entitled "Tortured for Christ" by the late Rev. Richard Wurmbrand, founder of The Voice of the Martyrs. He tells the sobering story about how his wife Sabina was imprisoned and tortured in a Romanian prison under Communist rule. Since both parents were in prison for embracing and preaching the Christian faith, it was a great crime to help children of jailed Christians. One lady who helped their son, when she found him left wandering in the streets, had "all her teeth kicked out and her bones were broken." At age eleven, due to God's intervention, their son Mihai was finally allowed to visit his mother in prison. Amidst his unspeakable hardships and incredible loneliness, he began to increasingly doubt the existence of God. "He went to the Communist prison and saw his mother behind bars. She was dirty, thin, with calloused hands, wearing the shabby uniform of a prisoner. He scarcely recognized her. Her first words were, "Mihai, believe in Jesus!" The guards, in a savage rage, pulled her away from Mihai and took her out. Mihai wept seeing his mother dragged away. This minute was the minute of his conversion. He knew that if Christ can be loved under such circumstances, He surely is the true Savior. He said afterward, 'If Christianity had no other arguments in its favor than the fact that my mother believes in it, this is enough for me.'" (page 46) Truly, our awesome and sovereign God uses godly mothers, even under most adverse circumstances, to bring their children to faith. Dennis Fischer |

When I was a kid (around 13), the Wurmbrands came to speak at my church (Baptist church in Northern England). I was not saved at the time, but I still remember them, and I do not remember many church meeting from that time! They really impressed me - they definitely had a "presence". I remember also either reading or hearing that Sabina Wumbrand, when the Securitate officer (that is the Romanian equivalent of KGB) who was responsible for her father's death, came to check up on them, she invited him to stay for lunch and made him a nice meal. I do not think I have quite got to where she was in my own Christian life. Have to keep working on it! Adrian P.S. He got saved, by the way... |

We were blessed to hear their son Michael speak at the VOM conference last June. He preached on Job where Satan says to God "Job doesn't serve you for nothing..." and he went to explain how the suffering church does serve Christ for "nothing" in this world. I can't do it justice but it was awesome. I remember more of the talks that weekend from those bold believers than I do a whole year's worth of sermons! I'm not there yet either- but when the time comes and you need it, the grace to live it is there. I have to believe that! Sondra |

Me too! Have you read "the Heavenly Man" ? His testimony is pretty amazing too. I have heard him speak as well, also in Hungary, and not far from where I live. Adrian |
