Yes, we are called saints, but we are also sinners and possess a sinful nature in this life. Read the book of Romans. We all need a Saviour. If we could become perfect in this life, we would not need Jesus. He is our Substitute before God. Our salvation is complete in Him. We receive only the down payment of the Holy Spirit in this life, We will receive perfection when Jesus comes. But the Holy Spirit helps us to battle with sin and Satan. We need to look continually toward the gospel and know that we are complete in Jesus. Our acceptance with God is in Him. We can add nothing to this righteousness. |

Joni 1. When you are one of Gods sheep John 10:27 you hear his voice and follow him and he gives you eternal life. Know I ask you? When a sheep goes astray and is lost who's resposiblity is it to find the other, the sheep to find the shepherd or the shepherd to find the sheep. 2. The Apostel Paul called himself a bondservant. A bonservant was somebody who was a slave and was working off a debt. When his debt was paid he was set free, however, if the person decided he wanted to be part of the family he would pierce his ear to the door of the house and thus become a slave for life. There was no going back you could not say after a few years well I want out. This is what Paul says he was, and it is what I am. Know guess what if I decide to run away I know my master will come after me. I know that I have a Father who loves me and is not affraid to come after me and has the wisdom to know if he should wait and see if I come back on my own. I can trust In my Father. |

There are three parts to salvation: 1. Justification 2. Sanctification 3. Glorification It is very important to understand where everything falls in! Justification: where we become spiritually born again saints, and are sealed with the Holy Spirit. At this point we become forever justified before God because of our acceptance of Jesus' sacrifice. Our old nature dies and our soul enters eternity to be with God. We become spiritually alive and have a new nature, but because of how we were (like a dog with a habit of climbing the tree, even if it isn't his nature) we sin. Before justification, we were identified with the first Adam, but after justification we become sons of God and identified with the last Adam, namely Jesus. Because Jesus was spiritually alive (and raised from the dead), we inherit this life. Eternal life starts at justification. Jesus crucified the old nature from Adam when he died on the cross (he did have an earthly body inherited from Adam, but he had God's spirit). We may still have earthly bodies, but we are spiritually alive, inheriting this life from Jesus. Sanctification: The daily walk with God in which we become more and more like him and grow. Glorification: What happens when we go to Heaven. |

Roy, I wish I had had such a clear understanding of salvation when I was in high school. But my greatest misconception was a belief that whenever I had a failure I lost my salvation until I prayed and asked for forgiveness. That was the cause of a lot of fear and guilt. Another way to describe salvation is that Justification is the assurance of our salvation, Sanctification is the fruit of our salvation, and Glorification is the ultimate result of our salvation. |

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. It is reasuring to know that God is working and keeps us in His care. I am awed at His love to us. I like the "sanctification is the fruit of our salvation". The fruit of the Holy Spirit is Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; Against this there is no law. |
