I heard or read this somewhere and then looked up the verses. It may have been someone here on the forum, but if so, I don't remember which person or thread. (If I'm mentioning something that someone else already mentioned; sorry.) Anyway in Isaiah 25:6-9, it talks about God giving us a wonderful banquet, including aged wine!!! (Now in case any Adventists are reading; I'm not endorsing people getting drunk - the Bible says not to. And I don't drink anyway because of some medication I take; but I thought this passage was fascinating!) Anyway verse 6 says it twice. The New American Standard Bible says "aged wine," and the New King James Version says "wines on the lees" which means wines matured on the sediment. (It explains that in the center column of this little reference Bible.) Anyway, it's a wonderful promise by our wonderful God for the future! A banquet, His taking away death and wiping away all tears from our eyes! I'm sure looking forward to it!!!!! I can only thank Him in deep relief that He brought me into the truth of the gospel and out of the non-gospel of the SDA church! (I didn't have any idea I was in a false gospel, though I couldn't back then put my full weight down on what the Bible said about salvation, because Adventists usually believe in what Ellen White says about salvation, rather than the wonderful good news of complete salvation through Jesus' finished atonement, the way the Bible teaches.) hmmmm... do you think Adventists may refuse the "aged wine" that God places before us at this wonderful banquet? I guess it may depend on whom they follow... ~vivian |

"hmmmm... do you think Adventists may refuse the "aged wine" that God places before us at this wonderful banquet?" Probably, these same folks will also require that their crowns are actually timepieces in order to be acceptable to wear. John |

Not to mention they'll need "Adventist definitions" to interpret the very words of Jesus...! Colleen |

Also, the Adventists would conceivably refuse the "choice pieces of marrow" (fatty, tender parts of bone) mentioned in verse 6 as well. The banquet menu certainly doesn't align with the SDA "health message." Dennis Fischer |

Asurprise, In Isa. 25:6, the Hebrew word for 'wine' means; "to be in a ferment". So, it would mean; "wine fermenting in it's sedement". Having produced grape juice (non-alcoholic) from wine grapes, that passage translates to me as something with a real bite to it even without considering the alcohol it must contain. Phil |

Ellen White says not to drink coffee!!!! She calls it a narcotic!!! Oh, and tea too!!!! She probably wouldn't agree with the donut either. (She's probably holding out for vinegar in Heaven. Come to think of it, she probably wouldn't like me writing on the forum either, because I have too much fun on the forum!) In "Counsels on Diet & Foods" (on page 402 of this paperback), she wrote: "And all should bear a clear testimony against tea and coffee, never using them. They are narcotics, injurious alike to the brain and to the other organs of the body." This book is a wealth of information!!! One can learn that butter stimulates, injures the stomach and strengthens the animal appetite (page 48) and on page 236 she infers that partaking of spices leads to smoking. She says that eating things like mustard, pepper, spices or pickles "make the blood feverish and impure" (page 345). She says that "cheese should never be introduced into the stomach" (page 368) and she said that two meals a day (and certainly not more than three), are best for children (page 229). In her book "Desire of Ages" she said that Jesus turned the water into grape juice at the feast and also that He used grape juice at the Passover feast. I could go on and on. She wrote lots of things like that! |

Exactly. Jesus' death is not enough to save you. You also have to abstain from pickles. That's what the woman taught! Jeremy (Message edited by Jeremy on January 10, 2009) |

Asurprise wrote, "This book is a wealth of information" referring to Counsels on Diet and Food. I would say this book is a wealth of MIS information" Just my take on it. She wrote about lots of things but the most important information she passed over-JESUS CHRIST. I am so glad all of us are no longer there and that others are following Jesus out of adventism. Jesus is so awesome. Diana L |

Yes, definitely misinformation! (I was being sarcastic by saying it's a "wealth of information.") |

The reason pickles are forbidden is that all that pickle making was threatening her stash of vinegar!. |

If the is a Duinkin' Donuts, there better be Timmy's! "she said that two meals a day (and certainly not more than three), are best for children (page 229)." My mom tried the 2 meal a day thing when I was 8 or 9. She realized it wasn't the best idea when she got me sneakling dog biscuits at night. SO then we got a light meal of fruit & bread for supper. I still was hungry enough to sneak pet food, just didn't get caught. Before we got pets, I remember eating paper, soap, dandelion roots, whatever I could find. |

Reminds me of the text in, 1 Timothy 5:23 - Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. SDA reasoning is that this is grapejuice and that it's good for you, but what about 1 Timothy 3:8 - Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, Why not much indulging if not alcoholic, maybe the grapejuice gives them wind which would be embarrassing in Church..LOL..
