1. The Gospel will be taught with power. It is because of the gospel we are no longer Adventists: Christ alone, grace alone, faith alone, the Bible alone. Jesus will be lifted up in every presentation. Assurance of salvation will be boldly spoken here (II Cor. 3:12). To borrow a line, sanctified tongues will be heard uttering “I am saved.”
2. Fellowship. You will be with like-minded people, not alone or on the fringes, but together with the great body of Christ. We are truly alive (Eph. 2:5), and there is an instantaneous and joyful sense of life when we’re with those who also have a living spirit.
3. Enjoy the celebration of Freedom, because “for freedom He has set us free” (Gal. 5:1). Former Adventists understand the bondage of “elemental principles” and man made rules, and cherish the freedom He has given us. We don’t have to “guard the edges” of any period of time, our Sabbath has no edges. Everything is His, Today (Heb.4:6,7).
4. There will be abundant, good food (Isa. 55:2). There are no potlucks, you don’t have to bring a dish for analysis. Both milk and meat will be served together, creatively. The vegetable and animal kingdoms will both be appreciated, “for everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected” (I Tim. 4:4). There will be coffee, the stimulating kind, as well as that other stuff, if you must.
5. Praising God through wonderful music will be passionate and genuine. Spontaneous expressions of joy are encouraged, such as standing up when you feel moved, raising your hands, crying, etc. If you start loudly praising God outside of services, others are likely to join you, we can’t help it. You’re also free to just sit quietly and watch, if you can.
6. Scripture is treated as the word of God. At FAF weekend, the Bible means what it says, for God said it. Passion for Bible study is contagious when we share a high view of scripture, when we submit our minds to Him. The Bible isn’t just a “greater light.” We don’t need a flashlight to go in search of the dawn.
7. Great personal testimonies will be given, this I know firsthand. These are a big reason to come to FAF weekend.
8. We have mild, southern California weather, even if it is raining. No snow guaranteed, unless you drive into the mountains.
9. Trinity Evangelical Free Church is a nice, spacious facility with great staff. Personally, I think we have one of the nicest churches in North America.
10. Come! You will be welcome. The price is right. There are even some beds available at some of our homes for free. Come!

I,ll need a ride, a bed,and somebody to come up here and work for me while I'm gone. Somebody to convince the main office that I need this and somebody to lie to my boss and tell her why I,m gone. Yes she's a she!

Not to worry she treats me good and takes me out to dinner.

Can you fix me up Colleen?

I'm stuck caretaking a house and can't possibly get away, plus my car is leaking oil and I haven't had a chance to change the main seals in the engine, plus I don't really have the extra cash for the trip. But I'd love to come if I could!

I would so be there if I could afford it. Maybe someday. Altho it is doubtful how much I'd get out of it with a 3 1/2 yr old in tow.

I'm signed up and I am bringing a friend. She is a "never been" and is a fairly new Christian believer. Early in her Christian walk she found a Steps to Christ and read it and told me it meant a lot to her. Then in my ignorance I loaned her the Great Controversy and she read it through. Now I feel as though I need to undue whatever damage I have done. I'm counting on the FAF weekend to help me!

If the Lord lets me live until next time an FaF takes place I will save a weeks vacation and go next year.

That would be something to be able to attend and sit and visit. Hey, it still might happen this year, I ain't ruling it out just yet.

The Lord can make a way where there is no way, he is good at that.

Its great you are signed up Sparrow, I am sure it will get your friend started out right.

My wife and I are planning on take our vacation and traveling to Bakersfield this summer to see her sister, if so I will drive on down to Colleens place while they visit.

Yall please pray for my wife to be able to walk again. She has been getting a little better along, but still has loss of balance.

The neuro (spelling? surgeon is running test the 20th and has already order several test. He doesn't know what this is, but he reminds me of 'House'. When we found him he just went to digging, the rest of her doctors just shoved meds at her.
The snow and ice kept her from an important test, so is set up for the 20th.

In spite of obstacles, God is a good God, he cares about every little thing in our lives down to the smallest detail. Phil, he cares about Jan and he cares about you.

Sometimes things go on that is hard to understand the trials that befall us.
When you and Jan were here last time I forgot to pray for her and my wife and you before you left and that was inexcusable.

You see it's this way, when people are around me I don't think clearly, God is helping me with that, but is like Brother Ramone's painting... layers, we got layers of old dead skin that God wants to remove in our lives.
Layers of blindness, habits, and so forth.

He just doesn't go digging in our eyes helter skelter, he applies the cooling salve of his Spirit and gently wipes away the layers.
A reed he will not bruise or break. He will not bruise us in his ministrations.

I am so looking forward to the FAF weekend this year and really want to encourage everyone on the forum to consider coming. Words cannot express what it is like to be together with people who share a common past and the burdens that come with it. Of course the highlight is the teaching and worship and I will never forget the communion service that we all had together last year. Greg preached on the New Covenant and then we took communion. Unbelievably powerful for those of us who lived under the Old Covenant for so many years.

I'm bummed! I've been to every one but I have to miss this one due to a very unfortunate schedule conflict.

I will be praying for the event throughout the weekend.

I'm sorry, Freeatlast! And I'm sorry you can't come, Angel and Angelcat. River, I do hope you can come--for SURE you've got to come and visit next summer! Richard and I would just love to meet you!

Sparrow, I'm delighted that you're coming and bringing a friend! We are all praying that God will glorify Himself through this entire weekend and bless each person who comes exactly in the ways they need to be blessed. He is faithful--and the weekends are so encouraging and helpful.

As I've said, I'm really excited about the presentations this year. Great subjects!

Flyinglady, bless you for remembering! We haven't taken any lessons (yet), but yes we have been dancing! I salsa dance like an octopus falling from a tree, but it's all about being close and enjoying activity together. I like slow dancing best. Thank you for encouraging me!

I will really miss seeing everyone. This event has become a sort of annual, personal spiritual Woodstock for me. But I will be absent for very good reasons, definitely don't be sorry for me Colleen!

You are all close to my heart, and I will be praying for your weekend. Especially Paul Carden.

I am soooo excitied about FAF weekend!!! This will be our 3rd one. Let me tell you about the first one: In 2006, I was still an Adventist. Martin was not, but he would go to church with me armed with copies of Proclamation! to read during the sermon. Knowing my husband wasn't happy with the church and its doctrines,(nor was I, but I was too proud to say it to anyone outside my inner circle) and having read a few articles of Proclamation! (although not in church...) I got curious about you folks and agreed to check it all out, but NOT until the FAF weekend! Ah, but God had other plans... I just couldn't stop the curious factor and the yearning for something "real." Sometime in October of 2006 I agreed to go to Trinity church, on a Sunday. We attended the last survice, sat at the back, and ate lunch at the Tinker's home that day. I felt the power of something, though I wasn't sure what it was. I just felt like I was in the right place at the right time. That day with those feelings and those nagging urges for Truth was October 22nd, 2006!

It was the topic of the FAF Weekend that got my curiousity back in 2006, and when we attended the event five months later I was moved by this enormous family of Christ followers we now are a part of! I have a whole new life with a spirit that is so alive it wants to burst through this human flesh!
You've got to come to "FAF Weekend 2009; Submitting to the Word"! (Who, is our Lord Jesus, See John 1). If at all possible, you've got to come! I hope the HS stirs your curiousity, and I can't wait to meet you there!!!

Sharon, welcome to the forum! I'm glad you're here!

I will never forget the first time I met you and Martin—it was October 22, and about 12:50 PM we got a phone call. I was just getting ready to serve, and Martin asked Richard if we were having lunch. Of course Richard told him to come on up--and soon there you were! It was so exciting to us to meet you and to learn that Martin had been reading Proclamation online for months and had been introducing you to it as well.

Yes, the FAF weekends are wonderful. We pray that God will glorify Himself and nourish each attendee in the ways He knows each one needs.

Short of a miracle, I won't be there this year, but I hope to make it another year. Maybe I can save up for plane fare etc. all this year.

I think it'd be better to wait til my daughter is older, anyhow, though.
