This is the tale of what happened in 1844’ They thought the world was ending, and Christ was at the door’ They sold their land and homes and things’ And looked the more and more’ And ended up a begging the neighbors for their change’ Then Ellen white came in and said we got to keep it up’ They’ll think we’re all just fools and give us so much truck’ So they kept on lying and then they run amuck’ So they lied to one another and to every man’ They said that God was hiding it and covered it with his hand’ They clung to their stories and even made up more’ And that’s all that happened in 1844’ River |

The first of the year, in two thousand and nine ‘ River said “I’ll make my books really shine.” ‘ “I’ll get a Laser printer.” And print them out in no time!” So he looked on the internet for that printer so sublime’ He said “I know what I’ll do, I’ll go to Fry’s Electronics!” “That’s what I’ll do to find the Laser harmonics! ‘ So he took off to Fry’s crying “It’s a sure winner!” And he took lots of money, and bought a Canon printer’ He got home with his prize, and worked and worked clear to midnight’ You should have seen his office, it was such a terrible sight! ‘ The printer would not communicate with his up to date computer ‘ He finally threw up his hands, and dealt with the woes of the user. He said “I’ll take the darn thing back, That’s sure to be a winner!” ’ His wife said “Its fifty miles, you’ll surely be late for dinner” ‘ So he traveled the free ways, at speeds that made his head swim ‘ Back to Fry’s Electronics, there on the Pacific Rim ‘ He returned the printer, and got his money back ‘ Then he turned around and headed, for his Battle Ground shack ‘ He looked on the internet yet again, and sent out inquiries to the women and men ‘ He said “It’s back to Fry’s, to buy myself a Laser printer” ‘ His wife said “You were just there! “And you were late for dinner! ‘ So he sped back down to Fry’s, with the miles a flying ‘ He was so upset, he was almost crying ‘ He bought a Brother printer, model 5250dn ‘ He hadn’t made so many trips, since he couldn’t remember when ‘ He hooked her up, and made the papers fly’ He churned out those pages, but couldn’t remember why ‘ Now his office is a mess, but the big printer did shine ‘ And that’s what happened in January, of the year two thousand and nine ‘ River |

They said “Oh, the Lord didn’t return!” ‘ “He just investigating” ‘ We’ll start a brand new church! ‘ While we are waiting and waiting ‘ So they started the Adventist church and really got a going ‘ The Methodists looked at them in pity, for they made no Bible showing ‘ The Methodist said “No man knows the day nor the hour” ‘ Of Christ the Lords coming in his mighty power ‘ “If you don’t straighten up, we’ll have to kick you out! ‘ But that made Ellen all the more determined ‘ And she went away with a pout ‘ She went into a swoon, and come up saying “I got it!” ‘ She said to the other churches “You can just go pot it! ‘ She wouldn’t listen to men and women of God, to their rime or reason ‘ So the Seventh day Adventists got started and lasted season after season ‘ So now here they are, they go thru the Bible, a proof texting and proof texting ‘ They will not listen to reason, of any words perfecting ‘ So they started a cultic church, there on that Atlantic shore ‘ And that’s surely what happened, in 1844 ‘ River |

Animal, here is the 'rest of the story': In the sermon 'The Mind of Christ', by Ray C. Stedman, he first quotes Dr. Joe Aldrich, President of Multnomah School of the Bible; "The main thing is to see that the main thing remains the main thing".
quote:I think that is a very self-evident truth, and yet a very important one. It raises the question of just what is "the main thing" in Christianity. Is it our view of man, the unity of humanity as one race here in the world under God? Is it the ethical demands that Christianity raises, the moral standards we hear of these days? Is it the emphasis on marriage and the family which is central to all of life? What is it that is the central thing about Christian faith? Is it our hope in the hour of death and in overcoming the great enemy of mankind when we come to the end of life
As Christians, this is who we are because we have the mind of Christ! Phil |

Phil, If I understand you correctly, then if I were to try to explain to someone what being a Christian means, it would behoove me to get him to understand who Christ is and what He did for all of us rather than what day I might worship on. I guess what's in a name does matter. What do I consider myself and where is my emphasis? "Christ"ian or "Seventh-Day" Adventist? |

But Ellen and her cohorts shut the door real tight "If you didn't believe in Miller, then you aren't in the right" Only those who followed them and listened to the lie Are of the 144,000 who are not doomed to die Year by year the changes came and still Ellen's word was "true" Even when they found she copied and nothing said was NEW! The condemnations came upon them if they dared to question why some vision wasn't accurate, or even an outright LIE! And so the church hides the past pretending it was right When JESUS is the only way, the truth, and the LIGHT. (Sorry River, you inspired me!) |
