My son called me Christmas day. In our conversation he told me thank you for not raising him a traditional adventist. I did not read EGW to him. I could not afford to buy the Bible story books, so I read the Bible stories right from the Bible. When I read him the story of David and Bathsheda he turned and looked at me as he said, "The Bible is full of stories about human beings". On sabbath I tried not to tell him what we could not do, but that this is what we can do and enjoy the sabbath. In church when his friends were running around I would tell him that this is God's house and we can run outside. Among the many things he told me he said that as he grew up and was on his own he saw that the adventism I taught him was not the adventism the church taught. All I said to him was "God was telling me how to raise you and I am so thankful for that". What an "AHAA" moment I had. I want to cry as I write this as I love God so much and love my son so much. Thank you awesome God for telling me how to raise my son. Thank you that my son is no longer SDA and that he is Christian. Diana L (Message edited by Flyinglady on December 27, 2008) |
