Some time ago Haroldo Camacho introduced me to the rich Hebrew word, "Hesed", and I read about it further in Malcolm Smith's book, "The Lost Secret of the New Covenant". Hesed is a word translated in various versions in different ways, but used most often when referring to God's love, devotion, faithfulness and mercy towards the people He has made a covenant with. Particularly it's used in reference to God remembering His covenant with Abraham, David, etc. It's used that way more often than with the covenant with Moses... can you guess why? (Because they couldn't keep their end of things! But the covenant with Abraham was based on God's hesed, not on Abraham's.) Anyway, it's one of those rare words which I think should become common knowledge in the Church! The other night a song came up out of the word and I thought I would share it here. Blessings in Jesus! "Hesed" Hesed Lovingkindness Faithfulness Enduring love Hesed Sought me out Hesed, my rest Hesed Steadfast love Undeserved mercy Unfailing devotion Hesed Bound Himself to me Hesed Covenant ever-new Made in eternity-past Your pledge, my God Your Hesed is my rest |
