Fooled Ya! Sorry about that, just pulling your Foot! :-)

The foot The Eye and The Hand.

Corinthians I 12:21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."
Corinthians I 12:22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.
Corinthians I 12:28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

Sometimes I get just a glimpse at the differences in the way the gifts have formed us.

At times it makes me just a little sad and disappointed when the Holy Spirit ministers through me and yet I know my heart is misunderstood and sometime even repugnant to others whom I know is also gifted.

At times it even seems a little comical as I watch the “members” in action, and then sadly at times, wonder at my own lack of understanding.

For instance the prophet (preacher) may say “We must preach hard, not sparing the truth” “that is the way to do it”.

The teacher will say “No, we must educate them.”

Another will say “No, none of that will do, it’ll take a miracle!”

Another will say “No, no, they just need Love, Love and more Love”

Then sadly one will say “prophet, you are too hard on them” You should show love and mercy, you are not of God! Oh, Lord have mercy on that preacher, he is absolutely repugnant he shows no love at all!

Another says “he should have educated them stead of slapping them upside the head, and milk sop won’t get it either.

Back to the comical part, get the vision, you are sitting comfortably watching the ballgame and all of a sudden your foot comes up and slaps you right on the forehead, your hand starts going into fits and slaps you across the face and your legs, your stomach goes into convulsion and tries to climb through your Adams apple.
They rush you too the hospital and the doctor declares it unusual and probably incurable and suggest a straight jacket might do the job but in the meantime he will prepare for brain surgery just in case drastic measures are called for.

Kind of a silly vision isn’t it, I know, I know, I shouldn’t have watched that Outer Limit rerun marathon instead of mowing the yard.

But that is sometimes the way we act as gifted Christians and perhaps we need to study the gifts more and learn to recognize them in others, then maybe we could become more dependent on one another and act in more unity realizing that each has it’s particular function in the body of Christ.

The Holy Spirit preaching through Paul is not much different than the technique Jesus us when he walked the earth among men, he used things that they were familiar with such as sowing, planting and reaping, but like his disciples we sometimes come to him afterward and ask his meaning and Jesus would sigh and say “have you been so long with me and still have no understanding?”

Like the expert foot racer we need to set our sights on the finish line and depend on every part of the body acting in unison to run the race with patience.

Corinthians I 12:21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."

Brother Paul, that’s exactly what we do say many times.

River, you are so right. What a wonderful post. Thank you--you have described the way we treat each other more often than I want to admit.

Our obligation is to be unifed in Christ through the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor and protect each other.

Thank you, River.
Colleen
