Larry, that one on tithe is great! Who needs TV?

I imagine that the people of Ellen's time received plenty of entertainment with her writings. She and Joseph Smith would of made a first-rate team! Imagine where the Mormons would be if they had 6-1/2 feet of "counsels" to read.

I'm laughing so hard my chest hurts ...

And Ellen is supposed to be a "continuing, authoritative source of truth" for the Seventh-day adventist denomination? SDA colleges could save a lot of money if they just had school faculty get up with a straight face, and read from these books for Saturday evening school auditorium programs. Imagine taking your date to an evening reading of Ellen White's Counsels on Health?

Imagine visiting a Seventh-day Adventist marriage counselor that uses Testimonies on Sexual Behavior, Adultery and Divorce as their guide.

How anyone can put this stuff in the same league as the Bible is truly beyond me!

In academy I had a Pearl Jam album which was filled with all sorts of wacky "health" advice from the 19th century -- I guess they did it to be ironic or tongue-in-cheek. When I showed it to a friend, he commented, "I feel like I'm reading Ellen White."

egw was rather fanatic at times, depending on which issue was currently on her mind. This next example really illustrates and shows how her own words betray her. egw was addressing herself to tithes and offerings under the heading, "The Only Way to Manifest Gratitude."

Many sda's say they "keep Sabbath" because it shows they love God. That concept is at variance with the above statement!
