Hello Everyone,

I wanted to give you an update on our situation. Through a series of unexpected events, the conference found out about my straying from SDA norms in theology last week, and after a discussion, we have agreed to part company. The decision to leave was mine. I will be taking what is known as a counseled resignation. They have been mostly kind and understanding about my decision to leave the SDA ministry for theological differences.

At the moment my wife and I are feeling a sense of loss and uneasiness. The future is unclear. Many of you, I know, have gone through something very similar. I am asking for your prayers and support as we exit the Adventist ghetto. We believe things will be better soon. In the mean time the Lord is near and He is enough.

Thanks

Jerry

Jerry, your family will be in our prayers. We are here to support you in any way that we can.

There are a number of others here that have been through similar experiences.

You will feel a strength and peace in God's leadership that you have never felt before. You and your wife are taking the right step, and we are all right by your side. God has a plan for you that is much greater than what you are coming out of. :-)

He is so good!

Thanks for the update. Terminations are hard, no matter who initiates them. I have prayed and will pray that God will continue to give you a special sense of His abiding presence and will guide you in each step into the future He has prepared for you. This may have caught you by surprise, but God is not surprised.

Blessings,

Mary

Jerry, we have been and will be praying for you and your family. You will discover God's faithfulness in ways you have not imagined before. He is completely faithful. Your integrity honors Him, and He will glorify Himself through this devastating but exciting experience.

I will pray that you will know His deep peace and confirmation, and that He will provide for your family's needs. He is faithful, Jerry. (It's great to have a name to pray for...thanks for introducing yourself...!)

He who is within you is greater than he who is in the world.

Jerry,
My prayers are with you and your family. You will find that God is so awesome and as Colleen says frequently, God will restore all the locusts have eaten and more. He does not waste any of our experiences.
All of us have been where you are to some degree or other.
God is so awesome and He will take care of all your needs.

Jerry,
Praying for you and your family.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

Jerry, even if you end up living in your station wagon and eating at soup kitchens, just remember that you know and practice the true gospel. Beats the tarnation out of collecting a phat paycheck and preaching for a system that wants you to portray a comprimised gospel.

Any misery (hopefully not!) here on earth is only for a few decades. Paul had it rough at times didn't he?

Dear God, be with, guide, and prosper Jerry and wife, but only for Your glory. We ask this in your Sons name, who said You would do anything if we asked in His name.

Jerry,

I pray that you will experience what I did when leaving as a 4th-gener: Personal connection with Christ and a God-given opportunity to live and serve in Him. You have an exciting future that will just keep on unfolding in new dimensions of faith!

Jerry, you wrote, "They have been mostly kind and understanding about my decision to leave the SDA ministry for theological differences."

That is so amazing! Others here have said they were treated very unkindly when they decided to leave. I pray that you will continue to interface with these kind and understanding people, and that God will open many opportunities to present the Gospel to them.

Jerry,

I am SO proud of you. You and your family will certainly be prayed for many times in the coming days. It was hard enough to leave as a lay person with no financial ties to the SDAs. I can't imagine the decision you had to make. As Richard and Colleen have pointed out, God is faithful. But ... sometimes it's hard to trust completely on Him. As Diana likes to say ... He is awesome!

On the lighter side ... have they brought in the non-discloure agreement yet? :-)

That is pretty interesting. Is it possible you could disclose what all is entailed in such a secrecy agreement, and if they have any biblical or paranoia basis for it?

Thanks!

Larry,

It was meant as a joke. Sorry if it didn't come out that way. But I'm sure that the SDA powers that be would prefer that he not reveal to his congregation (or anyone else for that matter) the extent of his "straying from SDA norms" and his Biblical basis for this straying.

Biblical basis? No.
Paranoia basis? Yes.

Again, sorry if the humor didn't come through.

Thats alright Kim, I thought this might be another opportunity to blow the lid sky-high on yet another one of their heretical ways :-)
