At our Celebrate Recovery worship service every Friday evening we have music-fantastic, prayer, a sermonette or a testimony given by one of the members, from 7-8pm. We then break up into our various support groups from 8-9 pm.
The testimony is about how God has used CR to help us with our hurts, habits and hang ups. I have been asked to give my testimony and will be telling about my dysfunctional family mixed up with a very legalistic religion and am naming that religion. It was a very toxic mixture. The pastor in charge does not know if there are other former SDA in the group, but there are former Mormons. God has used me to educate this minister and his wife about adventism.
I am asking for prayers as I am scared. I know I can count on you for prayers.
Thanks in advance.
We do serve an awesome God.
Diana

I am praying and claiming Isaiah 41:10 for you, "So do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

I ask God to speak through you, Diana, to all the precious souls who will be in the room with you, and that they will hear and remember only what He wants them to hear and retain.

Don't forget to tell them how awesome God is.

Dianna, I will pray, but I know you will do o.k.
Just speak your heart and don't try to borrow from anything that is not you.

Thanks for all your prayers everyone. I do not know if you folks know what Celebrate Recovery is. We have had it in my church only since April of this year. Celebrate Recovery or CR is the 12 step program, AA/NA/OA/GA, but it is Christ centered. We have workbooks to use as we work the steps and the 8 principles(steps combined) with their Biblical counterparts.
On Friday evening we have a worship with fantastic music, a reading of the 12 steps or the 8 principals with their Biblical counterpart.
There is a sermonette or a testimony every other week.
Tonight I was asked to give my testimony of how God and CR has helped me. I started with my dysfunctional family mixed with the SDA religious beliefs. That made a very toxic mixture. Going to CR has shown me how my past has contributed to how I am now. It also shows me how to let go and let God by making amends to others, forgiving others, including myself, and most importantly, asking God to be in my life.
I did mention SDA by name and told of how, when I first joined by 12 step program, I did not have sobriety/abstinence because as I told myself, "How can God give me abstinence/sobriety, when I am not keeping the sabbath." That was many years ago. About 3 months ago I was having my time with God and was asking him why I could not be abstinent/sober and he showed me it was because of what I had learned as I noted above about keeping the sabbath.
I was told by many people it was a powerful testimony and my reply was that I want God to honored and glorified by what I said and that others can learn that God can take care of their hurts also.
So thanks for your prayers. I was not as nervous as I thought I would be because I knew all of you were praying for me.
I ended with saying that we do have an awesome God.

Praise God, Diana!

I knew He would help you speak for Him and that He would glorify Himself through you!
