Are we striving with all are God-given powers to reach the measure of the stature of men and women in Christ? Are we seeking for his fullness, ever reaching higher and higher, trying to attain to the perfection of character? When God's servants reach this point, they will be sealed in their foreheads. The recording angel will declare,"It is done." They will be complete in Him whose they are by creation and by redemption.-3SM 427 Doesn't this prove that SDA's believe perfection and works equal salvation? There is no mention of Christ and the Holy Spirit being our seal. I find this very sad and depressing for any SDA who believes this. |

You are so right. In Adventism, Salvation is a do over. Sin is forgiven up to the Salvation event. In Christianity, Salvation is a done forever. |

That same idea is found in 3 other locations. Just search for the string "servants reach this point, they will be sealed in their" without the quote marks: http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section00000.htm/book04671.htm/chapter04731.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section00000.htm/book02425.htm/chapter02442.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section07552.htm/period08634/article10523.htm According to this heresy, sealing only comes after character is perfected. What rubbish. |

Here's something that Ellen White says in her book "Early Writings" in the chapter "Mark of the Beast." This statement completely undermines a person's assurance of salvation, completely undermines 2nd Corinthians 5:5 and Ephesians 1:14 which says that the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our inheritance. It also undermines Ephesians 2:8,9 (and 2nd Timothy 1:9 and also Titus 3:5) which says that we "have been saved." Anyway Ellen White says here: "Said the angel, 'Get ready, get ready, get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death to the world than ye have ever yet died.'" This causes a person to worry about their salvation and puts their attention squarely on themselves. Dianne |

Well, Dianne, as Paul says: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!" (Galatians 1:8 NIV.) That angel was definitely a FALLEN angel and will be eternally condemned. Jeremy |

Here are six more times egw uses that perfection of character before being sealed notion. Do a page search for the words "recording angel will declare" without the quote marks: http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section00000.htm/book01518.htm/chapter01727.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section00000.htm/book02057.htm/chapter02387.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section00000.htm/book03340.htm/chapter03485.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section07552.htm/period08634/article09829.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section07552.htm/period11879.htm/article11887.htm http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll/egw-comp/section00000.htm/book04774.htm/chapter04780.htm |

You know, Jeremy, that is suddenly a VERY comforting thought! I think I nearly have tears in my eyes! That sick, sick spirit that deceived the early Adventists is condemned. That sick, sick spirit that deceived generation after generation and so many of us and our loved ones -- it has its sentence already written for it and its eternal home in the lake of fire. The battle has been won, the verdict has been written, and greater is He who lives and who lives in us than the spirit in Adventism. God is awesome. |

Ramone, as I read your summary analysis of Jeremy's statement, I got tears in my eyes, too. I am finding that KNOWING our God is eternally just is a great comfort. If His justice were not eternal, we could not be certain of His grace and mercy, either. Praise God for His justice and for His mercy! Colleen |

Just to be sure that his readers fully understand what is at stake, Paul mentioned the "curse" or "anathema" again in Galatians 1:9. Truly, heresy and/or perversion of the Gospel is a big deal to God. Dennis Fischer |
