I have often heard the SDA statement that " many Sunday keepers will worship on Sabbath for the first time in heaven" In response Christians quote: Rev 22: 5 "There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light"(NIV) Rev 21:25 "On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there" (NIV) Notice the phrase "On no day will its gates ever be shut" I could be wrong about this but I think it was required of the Israelites to close their (city)gates on Sabbath. If this is so, the Revelation 21:25 verse would imply there is no Sabbath (as Adventist see it) in heaven I am not a bible scholar so maybe someone out there can straighten me out on this Jay | ||

Expanding on what was said in the above post: When Revelation was written, part of what a city needed was a wall to keep out potential enemies. All cities, including Hebrew cities, did this to exist. And, if there are walls you needed gates to get in and out. At night, which is the start of a Hebrew day, the gates would be closed for security. If there is no night there is never a reason to close the gates unless an enemy makes an attack. Of course, in heaven there is no night and no enemies. The gates are never closed and there is no start of a new day. What we have is an eternal day and eternal Sabbath in Jesus Christ. Phrased another way, you could say; we have an eternal "day" of rest in Jesus Christ because "there is no night there". Phil | ||
