I am probably going to have to go to SDA church with my wife tomorrow. They are having communion tomorrow and I know she will want me to attend that with her. Ok I think I will kindly and lovingly tell her that although I really want to go to SDB church like I have been lately, I will do this for her tomorrow, but I will make no bones about my continuing to attend SDB church like I have been.

I am just dreading what the sermon will be tomorrow, given what the Pope just recently said which will no doubt be misinterpreted by Adventists in the most paranoid fashion.

I kinda hope the sermon is a Sunday Law rant tomorrow. My wife is sick of hearing about the Sunday Laws and maybe this will make her think.
Problem is, she is a "cultural Adventist" who doesn't believe in that stuff so she might actually igore it. She pretty much sleeps through all the sermons anyway while I have to listen to the garbage that gets spewed.

Oh well, it's only one Sabbath and the next one I'll get to go back to SDB church.

Thank you for sharing these things with us! They are important to us as well.

Perhaps you can just take your Bible and read it instead of listening to the sermon. That at least gets you through tomorrow.

If you go with her tomorrow, would she consider going with you the following week? Just a thought. My prayers are that God will strengthen both of you in your walk with him. :-)

Gilbert, I am hoping there will come a point in time where she will be willing to attend SDB church with me. Next Sabbath when I go back to SDB church I am going to get a CD with some of the Pastor's sermons on it to play for my wife. Maybe if she hears that and sees the difference?

I'll get through tomorrow.

As for my wife I will just keep on loving her and showing her a Christian walk.

Reb, I prayed that your wife may have the Holy Spirit show her the truth of SDA and that she may see that tomorrow during service and come to the grace of God and be set free from those lies. She doesn't need to be decieved any longer.

Reb, I have recently started back to attending SDA church with my husband, but I am still going to my own church on Sundays. I get recharged every time I go to my own church. If you're unable to get recharged with good doctrine because you attend church with your wife, may I suggest that you listen to some of the online sermons available on the Internet?

Fran Sankey has two very good audio files on SDAism:

http://www.towertotruth.net/audio.htm

Alistair Begg has downloadable podcasts and daily sermon files:

http://www.truthforlife.org/site/PageServer?pagename=lst_daily

John MacArthur has his daily broadcasts available for free:

http://www.gty.org/broadcast.php

R. C. Sproul has audio and video files here:

http://www.ligonier.org/

If I weren't able to get good Bible teaching at my Sunday church and had to attend an Adventist church only, I'd make time to listen to some of these teachings to keep me connected to reality.

I had the same feeling as you, Reb. Part of it was that we were planning on meeting some friends from our previous church at the park for a picnic. We were really fairly good friends, as far as friends who got together once in a while for an odd birthday party, or helping a fella out with dome remodeling project. But I knew them before I came to the point where I am now. I was dreading meeting them Sat. The church service at our church was a yawn. We had the conference prez visiting and so it was a *high* day I suppose...My young kids were upset that we went to church instead of leaving after the EGW indoctrination hour as you so eloquently put it...Well, anyhow, the picnic was ok, we got caught up on what had been happening in each other's lives, and then there was talk about worship styles later that afternoon. "All this hopping around during the service and dancing--it was just too much!" one fella said regarding his visit to one of the more progressive churches out east...And there was Ellen talk and the proper ways to do things and worship--ugh. I got upset but excused myself since my 6month old son was getting restless. I get in these situations and I can't think of anything to say, and if I did, what would I say in response to the counter arguements? Overall, it was an ok day, aside from my personal discomfort.
Sorry to bore you all with this. It's late. I need to get to bed.
By the way, thanks for being here. I draw on your experiences and advice, it is such a help.
I recently started looking at the proclamation publications for the first time. Wow! what a treasure trove!
G'night all.

HonestWitness,

Those are some really great links. Thank you.

I have also found http://www.raystedman.org/ to be a great site.
