It has occurred to me that Doug B. has striking similarites with Bin Laden:
They both have been intimately involved in cave life.
Both preach a religion of fear.
They both are obsessed with their divergent "truth", based more on proselytization and self-serving propoganda than Scriptual truth.
They both like to see themselves on tape spewing forth hatred-generating statements.
They both emphasize adherence and loyalty to their message of separation.
They do not teach a saving gospel of Jesus Christ.
They both are supported by undiscriminating followers.
They both seek exposure from the main stream press (they like to see themselves on TV).
They both hate Jews.
Both are poster boys for a radical religious front.
Both crave money.
Both are lousy prophesiers.
Just having a little fun, any others?

I have an aunt who is in her eighties and no longer attends the SDA church. She now has a satellite station that she watches non-stop - guess what it is??!!! She gets SDA programming 24 hours a day. I saw her at a family birthday dinner and all I heard was what wonderful programming she gets - all about nutrition, and of course the end times. Adventists really do try to control from the cradle to the grave don;t they!!

Except Doug Batchelor never killed anyone and Bin Laden has murdered thousands.
Doug Batchelor hates Jews???? But he is of Jewish background, does he hate himself then?? Or is his brain so fried he doesn't even know what he's saying or doing.
I think there is some anti-Semitism among Adventists. When I had to go to SDA church with my wife this past Sabbath, I wound up having to go to EGW Indoctrination Hour as I call Sabbath School. It was all old Testament stuff again, and during the lesson (which was on Jacob and Esau) the Pastor was teaching and mentioned "the Jews were into caring about money then just like they are now". I was offended as this was an unfair stereotype and I whispered to my wife, "no that's a stereotype and it's wrong and she whispered back that I am always "defending the Jews".
Is there anti-Semitism in Adventism. It almost seems there is. Another reason not to like Adventism.

When hubby broke the news to his mother that we had found a church to attend on Sunday her first response was well I still love you anyway. Gee thanks.. Her next response was to ask if we got 3ABN because there were good things on there we needed to see. |

Thank-you Jeremy and Colleen; yes, they seem to be spreading 3ABN all over the place. I think my uncle was instrumental in getting 3ABN into some areas near here.
A fellow employee where I work was watching 3ABN and was really impressed with Doug Bachelor. She was convinced that the Sabbath was correct at least. Back when I was an Adventist, she asked me about a program about cooking, where they were talking about a cheese substitute, and asked if SDAs didn't believe in eating cheese. Since I was an Adventist at the time, I didn't want to discourage her from being an Adventist herself, so I just told her that really conservative Adventists didn't eat cheese and that they didn't want to offend those conservative ones.
Then when I stopped being an Adventist, I tried to talk her out of believing that way. I couldn't convince her on the Sabbath, but I did convince her (with the Lord's help) that Ellen White was a false prophet. Finally I told her that Doug Bachelor bases everything he says on Ellen White. She seemed to listen a little then. I then took the opportunity to talk about the Sabbath again. I don't know if she still believes in the Sabbath, but I think she's lost interest in the SDA church.

The SDA church itself isn't anti-Semitic, though un-saved individuals within that church certainly could be prejudiced against various peoples. Without the Holy Spirit, all sorts of evil can florish beneath a veneer of good. (And I don't see how the Holy Spirit could infill SDAs. I could be wrong, but if one has the wrong Jesus, how can they be saved?)

Another thing. The devil hates Christians, but I think he hates the Jews too, because it was through them that the Messiah came and through them that we got the Bible.
The majority of Jewish people may not believe in Jesus, but they are still a testimony as to the work of God in the world.

Adventism teaches that God has rejected His people, the Jews, and has no further plans for them as a people--and that the SDAs have replaced Israel! (Compare with Romans 11!) EGW said that Jerusalem would never be built up, and they teach that Israel becoming a nation again was not a fulfillment of Bible prophecy!! Also, EGW wrote very anti-Semitic things, like telling people that they shouldn't go to Israel and try to evangelize the Jews, because it would take a really long time to convert even a few of them!
So yes, I would say that Adventism is very anti-Semitic.

Yes, it is!
I just read the whole chapter of Romans 11, and it just totally demolishes the evil teachings of Adventism with regard to Israel, etc. It's an incredible and wonderful chapter--I would encourage everyone to read it to see how Paul just totally refutes the SDA teaching that God has rejected the Jews.

Which is worse, though? Physical death or spiritual death? Murdering people physically, or causing them to spend an eternity in Hell separated from Jesus?

My ex's mother has MS and has been in a nursing home for years. Her husband got a satellite dish for her nursing home room so she could get 3abn. They just ran the cable out the window. What an incredible expense that has to be! I wondered if she watched it much. |
