Hey River, Did you ever think about reading the label before you open the can? That way, your dogs won't have so many complaints about what is fouling the air. Phil |

River -- I'm laughing so hard my sides hurt! About Dennis Priebe -- The really sad thing is that he represents mainstream Adventism. No wonder the facts they present are called "Amazing Facts"! http://www.dennispriebe.com/background/index.html
quote:Dennis Priebe is a Seventh-day Adventist minister, with 40 years experience as a pastor, a teacher, and seminar speaker. Eleven years were spent as a college professor at Pacific Union College, and 20 years as a seminar speaker for Amazing Facts. He has been married for 43 years to Kay, and they have one son, Matthew. Over 500 seminars have been held in churches and schools around the U.S. He has written several books and booklets, with many audio and video tapes on these topics. His one desire is to prepare people for what he believes to be the very soon return of Jesus to this world.

Unfortunately this is pretty much Adventist Gilbert, really now the guy should go to where ever he got his teaching credentials and demand his money back. This still amazes me to no end, the twisting of the word of God into such an out of joint theology. Far as I am concerned we shouldn't go nit picking everything our ministers say (Adventist excluded) but this kind of thing goes beyond the pale of justice for allowing mistakes. I think we all make mistakes in the word, I know I do. This thing is beyond mistakes for any individual to make. Consider if the Bible were an engineers manual on a certain car, could we know how the car worked and how to do repairs by making such mistakes? What if we taken the pattern off to build a boat or ship such as in lofting? Once I was lofting a 17 foot sailboat, I came to the stern section and the plans gave the angles for the rake of the stern and the cuts to be made, the marine designer had several lines almost super imposed one on the other with a fractional offset. I had trouble seeing the pattern for the angle of the cut so I stared at this thing unable to continue, so finally I decided to sleep on it that night, the next day I unfolded the marine designers plans and again began to look at this series of lines and as I looked the intended cut began to emerge and I could see the intended “pattern” and I was able to continue building the little sail boat. Did I get every detail exactly right according to the marine designer? No, but I followed the pattern and spent many days on that little sail boat and she brought me through some pretty tuff storms safely simply because I had followed the pattern, in Gods word there is a pattern and when we view the whole thing in our minds eye we can see the out lines of this great ship laid down in history by a master designer, the blood on the doorpost and lintel, the journey, Noah’s Ark of safety lifting him above the flood waters and then Jesus, our Ark of safety and Sabbath of rest, resting upon his finished work, we are not the designer, we are the benefactors, what if Noah had not built according to the pattern laid out by the master designer, would the ship have taken him to safety? I doubt it. When we go making huge alterations to Gods master design we come out with a hob goblin of sticks, a contraption that is unsafe and has no beauty, no certain lines but when we go according to the master designer it becomes a thing of beauty and she stands proud in the water, fully able to take us through the storm. You remember the movie “The Perfect Storm”? Remember how the “fish” or stabilizers came out of the water and went swinging around finally crashing through the glass of the pilot house and they had to cut it loose. These “fish” or stabilizers are swung on chains and made to “sail” through the water several feet below the boat and this keeps the boat from excessive “roll”. Those stabilizers should never have come out of the water; those chains were not near long enough, of course it was just a movie but it goes to show how important it is not to go altering the design after the pattern is laid by a master marine designer. Sinner and saved alike hopes that his vessel remains safe and upright, we all hope that but to look to the poor designs and patterns of this earthly world is inviting disaster, so we look for that city whose builder and make is God and according to his master plan. Adventism is man’s design but true Bible Christianity is Gods design so let us look to his master design and not go making alterations. If the plan calls for a 1x2 it means a 1x2 and not a 2x4. If we prayerfully study the word of God in order to get the lines correctly we will soon see the lines emerge although they may seem at first “super imposed” tangle of lines as long as we do not try to add a line or subtract a line. We must not super impose lines that do not belong for if we do it will become a hopeless tangle and that is just what Adventist have done. Most the churches have done this with the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12: 8-10, they have extracted the lines that do not seem to fit but friend we have no other plan to go by, it’s either this or nothing and the world is right “if it feels right it’s O.K., do it” the world says make it up as we go along. You see the Adventist take what part of Paul they can use and extract the rest, friend if Paul’s work was “merely” letters to various people and churches and not really intended to be the actual word of God we are in trouble, if we extracted Paul’s work from the Bible we have huge chunks of knowledge and guidance missing, whereas if we believe that it was the plan of God to add his work to the cannon it makes the lines of the master design come clear and show through. If it is God’s word to us we cannot extract from it. We might view Paul’s work as a “List of materials” if we viewed it as a marine designer would furnish along with his plans. I believe in my heart that the cannon we have is finished and closed for all time, I have tested God’s word and found it good, yes even Paul’s writings. Jesus told Paul at the outset that he must suffer for his cause and then given instructions as to what must be done. Let us build upon the plans and lofting of the master designer and have a stable vessel for we sail through stormy seas. River |

River, I see we have something else in common. If you go to the "Members" only section and read my profile, you will see what I mean. In addition to being a Shipfitter I am also a trained Lofter (for the non-politically correct, I was known as a "Loftsman"). I was trained on a traditional full scale loft floor where we produced wooden templates, roll sets and mock molds. The first step in laying down the lines of a ship is to "correct" the table of offsets by "fairing in the lines". This is done by comparing the same lines in all three basic views of the ship and making them agree by using "fairing in" battens. Only then was the table of offsets considered corrected and ready for use. The difference is that with God's plans and "table of offsets" nothing needs to be corrected. The greatest joy for me would have been on Noah's crew, building the ark. Of course, the Bible would read a little different, because I would have come onboard before the door was shut. Probably, Noah would have handed me a shovel and put me on bilge duty. I am also a trained "rag" sailor. Unfortunately, I know the meaning of what an "accidental jib" is. God's plans include "operating instructions" so we have no excuse for put others into troubled waters. Phil |

I just went to the website with the article by Richard O'Ffill. Very typical of him. Several of us were writing on his website and got banned, because, I know for me, I said EGW was a false prophet. Many things were said and we got banned. The thread is still on his site. It is about 67 pages long. I do pray for him and all SDAs. Diana |

Phil, hey, we sure do have something in common, I have taken the plans and built several boats although not to the extent in planning as you mentioned, I started taking plans out of magazines and just kept building bigger and bigger so I understand your lingo. I built and sailed my own boats to 26 feet, I also worked for Tolly Craft, Morgan Yachts, St. Petersburg and world cruiser yachts in Clear Water, Fl in addition to Snug Harbor Marine, I am a boat wright. I have been and avid boatman and open water diver for many many years but am a land lubber now, I hauled her up and moth balled her never to go to sea again I suppose. I left the water for good in 1997 after selling my commercial fishing boat to a friend, he called me on the phone and made an offer, said he wanted to take her fishing again so I jumped at the chance to get rid of her. Me and one other guy in this whole area are about the only ones who know how to caulk a plank hull with cotton. River |

River, I worked for the navy so caulking is something I didn't get involved with, welding being what it is and all. Seeing me caulk a seam on the pressure hull of a submarine might have been a problem. I have a close friend who use to work for Tolly Craft at their plant down in Longview, Washington. He is a fellow shipfitter who trained under me. Alas, I now work for Kellogg and that is about as far away from shipbuilding as you can get. Phil |

River, I never laughed so hard and am still laughing! I have now noticed that the SDA SS lessons only covered certain books of the new and old testiments to be studied or if they did how they skirted around what God said that would make them do some thinking about what the SDA Church really stands for. I read the article above and talk about talking out of both sides of his mouth. Out of one side he talks about how there are christians in other churches and yet out of the other side how they have to be lead to adventism. They are really presumptive to think this! I have noticed a shift in their recruiting and that is they have put their EGW theology on the back burner for now so they can be accepted as main stream theology. I know in the church I was going to you did not hear about 1844 or IJ from the pulpit only in SS or private conversation amongst members. I know the older members wanted a heavier dose of the Spirit of Prophecy preached. They feel that if this is brought to the fore front and taught that Jesus would stop His delaying of returning. Such a delusion and to think I believed this makes you want to be sick to my stomach. I praise God for His Son and the Holy Spirit bring me out of such heresy. Gail |

River, I laughed the whole way through your post where you said, "I jest had to get up an go ta clappin agin till they every one said at wonct 'sit down and shet up River!'" I've noticed that all the false religions have other writings besides the Bible that they claim are inspired. They also claim, every one, to be the ONE TRUE CHURCH! Dianne |
