Our hearts were saddened with the news that Zion Presbyterian Church (a "Presbyterian Church in America" affiliate) here in Lincoln, Nebraska was destroyed by a massive fire yesterday morning. Groundbreaking ceremonies for a new education wing were originally scheduled for this morning. About 100 needy families, in this older part of our city, have been weekly assisted with food at this church (known as "Foodnet"). Zion Presbyterian Church contained a massive mural painting, behind the rostrum, depicting the Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos. This huge mural was most beautiful to behold while worshipping there. I know of wedding plans that a young couple will have to change due to the fire destroying the church. We prayed for Zion Church this morning at Faith Bible Church. Below is the news link about the fire: http://journalstar.com/news/local/doc466aae801f555762653799.txt Dennis Fischer |

Dennis Thank you for sharing this. I'm sad to hear of the loss. It looks like a beautiful structure, even while burning. I hope it will be restored. Looking forward to a brighter day. Bob |

Colleen, We have attended this church several times. It is not our home church, but they have excellent adult education classes that are nearly college-level. Fortunately, their nearby adult education center did not burn down. The Zion church family worshipped at a Methodist church yesterday shortly after the Methodist worship services were over. This historic church structure is located near the International Museum of Germans from Russia (my heritage). This church had a large old German script pulpit Bible that was destroyed in the blaze.
