Does anyone have any recommendations for kids books, audio, dvds that do not focus on sin/obedience? I have had a hard time finding anything that teaches from a standpoint that my child is righteous even when he does something wrong.

Thanks!!

Well, these aren't stories, but Steve Green has a couple of fabulous music CDs called "Hide 'Em In Your Heart". There are two of them, and they are Scripture put to very catchy tunes. Our sons loved them and can still sing many of them. They're very cute and well-produced and performed, too.

'Sleep Sound in Jesus' by Michael Card. When my kids were small, they loved to go to bed with this loving, gentle CD.

Bless you and your children!

Thanks Colleen and Cathy.

The Hide 'Em in Your Heart looks good. The other audio Scripture cds I looked at were texts like: keep your tongue from evil..., even a child is known by his doings...., to obey is better than sacrifice... You get the idea :-)

I like the Sleep Sound in Jesus! I've had that one for years and love it!

There are two books I really love...

"Whiter Than Snow" by Roy Lessin

and

"Hope For the Flowers" by Trina Paulus

"Sleep Sound in Jesus" brings back sweet memories!

"The Priest With Dirty Clothes A Timeless Story
Of God's Love And Forgiveness" By R.C. Sproul

We found this book at the library several years ago when my children were younger (they are 11 and 14 now). Here is the link to the amazon.com review page:

What age group are you looking at? I've found simply reading from the Bible and talking together about what it says has been great for all three of my kids (7,8,&10). Sometimes we take turns from the same version, sometimes we'll all sit down with different translations and talk about the different meanings of words. It's pretty amazing what can come out of doing that even with younger kids. I pray they learn from me and I KNOW I learn from them on these forays!

Blessings,

Mary

Thanks for the suggestions! They look good :-)

The age range I'm looking at is preschool through early elementary.

I'm trying to build a curriculum for home-schooling. I haven't been satisfied with any Bible curriculums I've found.

My kiddos still need books with some pictures. The kids Bible I use with them now has maybe one small picture on a page with mostly print and that isn't enough to hold the attention of my youngest.

Hi U2bsda,
I'm a homeschooling mom, too. I used a curriculum called "Firm Foundations - Creation to Christ" published by New Tribes Mission. It focuses only on justification, being saved by grace alone. It is geared to children in about 3rd or 4th grade. Here is the link:

I think I bought mine from christian book distributors.
It was a great study for us as we were just coming out of Adventism. My children were 7 and 10 at the time.

There's a lot of great books, CDs and DVDs that my kids really enjoy (ages 3,5,8) on this website:

Have you heard of the A-BEKA curriculum?

Hope these can help! =-)
