Aloha Guys! I have some good news. (NO, I did not save a bunch of money on my car insurance!) I wrote a letter to the SDA church board to have my name removed. I had my dad deliver it as I work evenings. He is a hard-core Adventist. It wasnt hard for him to deliver it. He said that he totally understood my reasons and was ok with it. The board members said that in order to have my name off the books that they had to read the letter once today and then again at the next meeting next month and then it would be final. I am not sure why they have to read it twice, but if that is what it takes then I am cool with it. My mom called me tonight while I was at work and said that my dad read her the letter. She said that it was a well written and very caring letter. (NOTE: Thank you exadventist.com sample resignation letter!) She said that she could see where I was coming from and that she was sad that I was leaving, but could understand. She said that she was having issues with the SDA church as well. I think that she is thinking that I am leaving Adventism because I was mistreated, but that is not it. I am leaving because I read the Bible and found that what the SDA church teaches just isnt from the Bible. Just another month and then FREEDOM. I already know that I am FREE in Christ but it sure is nice to also know that I am out of spiritual bondage! Thanks guys for the prayers and please don't stop praying! Mahalo, Isaiah |

Isaiah, You will be in my prayers because you have a stretch in front of you when you may be challenged by self-doubt and the energy of new direction by God's Spirit. Keep your nose in the Bible and talk to God about anything and everything you read or experiences you go through. He uses our weakest moments and our darkest days to bring us closer to Him and to teach us more about His mercy and grace. In short, He is always trying to break through to us about how to love Him back. God bless. Steve |

Isaiah, praise God! He always glorifies Himself through our steps of faith. Steve said it perfectly. You will have times of deep doubt and struggle, but Jesus is faithful, and He will be more real to you than the fear and doubt as you keep your "nose in the Bible" (what Steve said!) and submit to Him step-by-step. With prayers for you, Colleen |

What Steve said! Isaiah, I remember that day, when My name was voted off the books! I stood outside, with my EMPTY hand raised up in the air to God, with absolutely NOTHING to offer God. NOTHING! No "remnant" church member status No Sabbath keeping to qualify me No (self)righteousness of my own No perfect behavior No "right" doctrine No generations of family tradition Just me, before a Holy God, with nothing at all in my hand to offer. OH, He poured out His love at that moment. I hate to write about it, it is so personal, and words cannot describe the "KNOWING". But I share, because I want others to experience that KNOWING. Because to KNOW that God loves and accepts you, with nothing to offer Him, to KNOW His presence to KNOW His pleasure in you--its indescribable. To recieve confirmation from God, that trust in Him is ENOUGH. That is what happened that day for me. Im really happy for you Isaiah. You are free. Welcome to the larger body of Christ Believers and Followers. Lori |

Praise God for you decision, growth in Christ as "the Truth and the Way", and for the action you have taken, Isaiah. Spread your wings and fly! Nothing in this earth compares with nor beats FREEDOM in Christ! |

The freedom is awesome! Congratulations Isaiah!! The posts above bring to mind one of my favorite songs: Through You the blind will see, Through You the mute will sing Through You the dead will rise, Through You all hearts will praise Through You the darkness flees Through You my heart screams I AM FREE Chorus: I am free to run (I am free to run) I am free to dance (I am free to dance) I am free to live for You (I am free to live for You) I AM FREE (I AM FREE) |

U2, I love that song. It was used at Promise Keepers here in Denver last year. It was awesome and humbling to be in the middle of over 10,000 men screaming and dancing out this song! Steve |

Lori, You said it all - "...absolutely nothing to offer God" is absolute freedom. There is only one thing He wants and that is us. The smaller we become, the bigger He gets. How humbling that Jesus proclaims us holy and righteous simply because we let Him put His robe on for the feast that He prepares for us! Sorry, gotta go - I get overwhelmed with those thoughts. Thanks again. Steve shutting up now. |

Lori, your post gave me chills and reminded me of this song by Casting Crowns (I'm sure you have heard it) "Empty hands held high Such small sacrifice If not joined with my life I sing in vain tonight May the words I say And the things I do Make my lifesong sing Bring a smile to You" Oh, it is called Lifesong. Praisefully, Hannah |
