Aloha Everyone! Ok, so you guys have read my story on how I left Adventism and how God is working on my mom and dad. My mom told me yesturday that she wanted to volunteer in Discoveryland. Discoveryland is the childrens department at Northwoods Community Church here in Peoria, Illinois. I was shocked and really excited for her!!! I thought wow this is great, she is finally coming and seeing that the SDA church she is attending is just not the way to go. But then she killed it with the follow-up. She says the reason she wants to help in Discoveryland is because she wants to bring the ideas that she will learn in Discoveryland BACK to the SDA church and incorporate them into thier childrens program. I was in shock!!! What to do??? Any suggestions? |

Ikilgore, I actually still see that as a positive thing. Not many Adventists would be willing to go to a Sunday church to glean information. I pray that seeds will be planted and watered during the time in Discoveryland. For me personally, exposure to non-Adventist Christians was influential in my eventual departure from the SDA church. |

There's also the chance that this is only a part of her real reason. She may be having an inner battle over the cognitive dissonance but isn't ready to admit to you or perhaps even herself yet, that she is changing a lot as the Holy Spirit works within. Another thought. My guess is that even if she does take a lot of ideas back to the SDA church, they might not be as receptive to change as she hopes. Keep praying for God to continue to work! Aliza |
